Re: Rashad Vaughn

I still think that was a different type of scenario. Maybe because I didn't follow the recruitment of HB as much as now with RV.

As an Iowa State fan, but somewhat of an outsider to the whole situation, I never reallyfelt like we had a legit chance at HB. Coming off a pretty bad stretch of losing, much like Minn. now, we seemed like more of a long shot.

The major difference here is the coaching. McDoormat had us wallowing in under-utilized talent, while CFH has utilized his team's talent to the tune of 2 straight NCAA appearances (and wins in those tourneys).

Maybe I worded that poorly...THE MINNESOTA POSTERS who think they are the favorite for RV reminds me of CYCLONE FANATIC POSTERS who were convinced HB would pick ISU. If you don't think people on this board thought we were a lock for HB up until the moment he loaded up Skype than you weren't paying attention. I was as guilty as anyone else on this site.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

McDermott's own son didn't even want to play for his Dad at ISU. That says something about the state of the program at that time. Why would HB go to ISU when Doug didn't even want to go to ISU?
Take a TO, baby. We do not need mention of that fiasco.

Just the opposite he did want to play for his, Dad, he just wasn't sure whether his Dad would have a coaching job.
It was a 1 in a million chance the way that worked out. ISU wanted him out, he wanted out, he had a terrible record gotta figure he was going to be unemployed. But low and behold Creighton wanted him, and it worked out for everyone in the end.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I know this may be a bit of a presumptuous first post (can't wait until my 100th post to get all my sources), but I remember after RV's last visit for the Baylor game, there was talk of doing a section-wide card stunt if he ever returned. Just curious if anyone had thought of putting something like that together for Rashad's visit for the Michigan game? Would be awesome if someone could pull it off. Things like that make a difference.

Anyway, I've been a long time reader and figured it was time to finally make the leap to posting every now and then.

I was actually good friends with Doug in high school. He didn't commit to Iowa State because his dad didn't think he was good enough to play in a power 6 conference. His dad wouldn't be the only coach that thought that. No power 6 conferences offered him.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Beat a top 10 Michigan team in November with Vaughn in attendance, especially with what will be a packed Hilton Coliseum, that could be enough for a commitment. With that said, he wont make his decision until spring I'm betting.

There are few things worse for a college athlete than committing to play for your dad and then having your dad be fired before you graduate.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

With RV playing at Findley Prep this year, if he dominates, what are the chances that he moves into the rivals top 5?

Here's the link to the card stunt idea:
