TU seems to be angling for either Bowlsby (not gonna happen), Oliver Luck (WV), or Tom Jurich (Louisville).

I don't see this as a good thing at all. Honestly, given their resources UT has been underachieving big time in football and MBB. If they make the right changes that will likely take W's away from ISU programs going forward. I want to see Dodds, Mack, and Barnes around for years to come.

Of course there's always the chance they hire a dud and end up worse.

chances of that at Texas are slim to none. With that kind of job you don't hire anyone that isn't fully proven their capabilities. Not like they need to go find the mid major or coordinator somewhere. There's a reason Saban is being seriously thrown around instead of 'insert defensive coordinator you've yet to hear of here' from the SEC.

Same deal with the Athletic Director.

Just because you have the pick of who you want doesnt guarantee a good fit or expected results though. Your odds are better, but not guaranteed.

Interesting tweet from Bruce Feldman.. A USC source him the reason they fired Kiffin Sunday because it would "give them a two month jump" on Texas in looking for a new head coach.

The Longhorn ship be sinkin'..

They better hire their man in the next 59 days, because Texas will be able to outpay whatever USC offers.

Signed, USC
Signed, Texas prior to Brown/Dodds
Signed, Tennessee

(Especially Tennessee and USC - they got burned by the same guy)

I don't think it is in the mindset of UT player's to rally. More like shrug and go turtle, so I don't think this should worry anyone.

I disagree. The last two years Texas has had things to rally behind (2011 was revenge for the year before, last year was an anniversary/birthday, can't remember, in which they THREW for a huge gain out of the wishbone) only to throttle ISU.

Emotions for revenge can only go so long, but I look for UT to go in to Ames as focused as possible, which is trouble when a team has raw talent like that. Not good.

It was in honor of Darrell Royal.

If it's gonna light a fire under their players, it would have already happened. This news is a couple of weeks old.

Yup the athletic director is stepping down so that means ISU has no chance. Mack has been fighting for his job for a couple years now, nothing has changed.

My guess is that Texas buys out David Shaw’s contract at Stanford and brings him over.
Talking out of my ***, but Shaw seems too cerebral for the UT job. Something tells me he wouldn't enjoy dealing with all the hillbilly, know-it-all boosters. If he wants a payday, he can to the NFL whenever he wants.
