I love how Fred shoots high on his recruits, yet even when those don't come through, it seems like he just keeps pulling good backup plans out of his hat. Lets just hope that one of these guys finally hit so that we don't have to go to the backup plan of the backup plan of the backup plan. But even if that is the case, I've also got faith that if we've still got an open scholarship or two, Fred will then just move onto pulling in a nice transfer at that point. This is much better than the Greg days when I was always scared to death to see his backup plans.

That is what you call a Manager/Handler.

??? Could you elaborate a bit more. I guess I'm confused and I apologize if I'm just too stupid to not understand something simple.
Fred worked the front office and other places. He is more than an ex basketball star. He knows how to work the angles and plan for the future. He is truly a great coach who knows how to work with people and to build a team. He does more than just recruit. For RW and other transfers, he also was a great handler.

I see. On another note, while we're talking about backup plans, I'd much rather take our backup plans right now than what Fran the Man is down to in Iowa City for this class. That isn't even mentioning the fact that we've already got one solid recruit in the bank while he has zero. Guess recruiting gets a little tougher when you run out of born and bred Hawkeyes who simply sign on the dotted line the minute you walk in the door.

you gotta wonder how many of these blue-chippers we are missing out on now will want to transfer in the future. #insidetrack

Is this an official or an unofficial?

Here, let me read part of the Hines article for you:

The Mount San Jacinto Community College wing has an official visit set to Ames next week, coach Patrick Springer told the Ames Tribune

Cyclones miss out on JuCo wing

Iowa State was slated to get a visit this week from junior college wing Dewayne Benjamin. Instead the Mount San Jacinto (Calif.) sophomore committed over the weekend to Oregon while on a visit to Eugene.

The Cyclones’ interest in Benjamin had grown considerably in recent weeks, and they’ll now have to turn their attentions elsewhere. ISU remains in the thick of things with a similar player in high schooler Josh Cunningham, who is slated for a visit to Ames on Oct. 26th.

Cunningham, a Chicago native, is a 6-foot-7 senior who projects as a small forward in college.
The Cyclones will likely also continue to monitor the junior college ranks for any players that pique their interest. ISU could very well get aggressive combing JuCos for a point guard as there will be a lot of youth at that position next season.

So I was reading this ESPN Insider article:

Thon Maker, Edrice Adebayo star in John Lucas Midwest Elite camp - ESPN

It mentioned the best surprise of the John Lucas camp which was Michael Hanson Jacobson out of Valley.

It stated that he is a strong and active 4 man who is very versatile. It also states he is a good spot up shooter. Sounds like someone who would fit well in Fred's system. Does anyone know if we are going after him? Couldn't find a Rivals profile for him.

What are the odds ISU draws the "short straw" of recruiting once again and Cunningham commits to Oklahoma this weekend before he ever officially visits ISU?
