Oklahoma State's stadium holds over 60K and they had their first sellout ever just last week. 65K is a longshot for us regardless of our record.
Does anyone know if there is another program who sells hillside 'seats'?
Nope, I don't. And I've heard Jamie talk about it more than once too. Capacity wont go over 60k with this expansion. I have a hunch that if the demographics changed big time, and we needed to expand, the east side would get a second teir. This isn't a 65k+ at every football game program. The "build it and they will come" mentality is rubbish. We sell out for 5 straight seasons and win a Big 12 title in there - then maybe it can be discussed. But even then, its a big stretch.
I think 3rd in the conference really should be the goal. That means 61k. If CPR could muster a couple winning seasons we would fill that, no doubt in my mind.

Espcially if those 99 dollar hillsides become 250 endzone/corner tix.
I don't think every one is considering we are adding the cheapest seats in the stadium. (except hillside). If you have 3-5K empty seats every game it will eventually drag down all ticket prices.
Consider this: 56K seats at $400 per season = $22.4M
If you stay at 56K and demand goes up to $450 per season = $25.2M
If you increase to 62K seats and demand and/or average price drops, and you have to lower price to $350 per season = $21.7M
I know it is not exactly this simple but much like CPR wanting to play in front of a sold out crowd, having consistent sell outs creates demand which = higher prices = more revenue.
THIS.
This comment rubbed me the wrong way. My initial reaction was this:
Hey Paul, I don't want to hear your thoughts and opinions as to the limits of our fan-base which continues to ramp up year after year, when the issues with the program are clearly all about the limits of you and your staff's coaching ability and lack of improvement on the field.
You can't tell me that when we are selling 41,000 season tickets with multiple sell outs for a team with one winning record in the past 8 years that substantial growth to those numbers wouldn't occur on the heels of an 8 or 9 win season.

I'd venture to say this route wouldn't put us over 60k for capacity.
Curious how long you've been a Cyclone fan? I've been one since the 70s, went to school here in the early 90s, around 2001, 2002, I remember saying to a friend, "Dang, if we could just get enough excitement to sell 36,000 season tickets, I think that would do wonders for this program." That was 12 years ago, with no more Big 12 titles under our belts and arguably no more success than we had back then. Know what he told me. "This isn't a 50k+ at every football game program. Never going to happen no matter what."
Honestly, I'm not saying you are wrong, just wondering what solidifies your thought that we've reached the absolute plateau without winning championships? I guess for me, seeing what I've seen since the mid 70s, It's kind of tough for me to say where the limit could be.
The growth of the football program has mostly been due to the massive amount of money/media thrown at it. Pollard has been selling HOPE, and people have been buying like crazy. Again, I went balls in too. However, after this years 2/3 win season, you will see people jumping off the ship. 4 straight losing seasons will do that to people, no matter how much smoke you blow at them. The announcement on the stadium updates helps. I'm excited for these - but I really don't think capacity needs changed. Another 2 or 3 win season next year and you will see why a capacity of 65k is a dumb idea.
