I'm with ya. With all the coaching changes seen across college football, nobody has ever witnessed a mass exodus due solely to an assistant coach not being named in a timely manner. Too much hand-wringing and teeth-gnashing over this.

But I too am an impatient sort and watch all the other schools make major coaching revisions in a matter of days regardless of where coaches come from. But it'll come...

Not to anyone that matters. Recruits don't know assistant coaches outside of maybe who's recruiting them at the schools. Most fans don't know the names of assistant coaches. Other than a few ninnies on these boards, all it means is CPR went through a comprehensive process and made a thoughtful decision.

Once they're doing the job, whoever we hire, the early perception won't matter.
If the guy is a good OC and we score points, nobody will care what the hiring looked like.
If he's bad at it and we don't score points, we'll complain about that a whole lot more than the perception from hiring day.

Go get a stud OC and pay him $600-$700k a year for 3-4 years. You waive that kind of money and most any OC will look at it. Most OC's want to become a HC and making lateral moves or lower moves is sometimes beneficial to them as it shows they can win anywhere.

I guess my point is that I find it hard to believe that money is an issue. 10 years ago sure but not today. This athletic dept. is rolling in $$ right now like never before and it's time to pony up and make things happen for this team offensively.

Yes it's true that ISU is bringing in more money than ever before. That doesn't mean that we're even in the same ballpark as someone like Florida when it comes to revenues and profits, whether from football or total.

I think it's pretty ridiculous to expect us to pay our coaches comparably with teams who make 2-3x as much money as we do.

Also, I'd like to see someone tell Pollard that the AD is "rolling in money right now" so I can time how long it takes him to stop laughing.

The only thing that drives me crazy with this whole process is the fact that there is no info leaked as to coaches being interviewed. I know this is CPR and Pollards way to do things but I'm surprised someone's agent hasn't said anything if they have been contacted about the position.

I was just thinking this same thing. It was only for one year in 2006 then he went to the CFL. The UCF website says he is also the Quarterbacks coach there. Looks like he's done a good job mentoring Blake Bortles and getting their offense back in shape since he took the job there.

-although I'm not sure I'd want him or not? He's done a good job, but he is 63 years old, so I'm not sure how long he'd want to hang around. I guess I'd rather get a younger guy.

Littrell from Indiana would be my dream hire right now. Not sure how much money we'd have to give him though, or if he'd even be interested in us.

There are certainly a number of OCs that I would be excited about taking over the reins of the offense at Iowa State. Near the top of my list would be Seth Littrell. I don't think that he is likely to come to Ames. (It would take a big pile of money to beat the salary that he is getting at Indiana.) Lincoln Riley is certainly talented and imaginative with his offense system. (But he is very young and seems to be still developing his version of the the "Air Raid".) I would be very happy with Todd Sturdy being selected OC. I really liked the offense he ran at Eastern Washington and Washington State. It was fun to watch the Central Florida offense, last night; but, I it might be difficult to pry an "older guy" away from living in central Florida.

Look forward to next week's announcement.
