Being Monday, coming off a rough stretch, and not having a game until Saturday, it looks we're in for a long week of negativity here at CF. Some positive thoughts:

We are 14-3 and 2-3 in conference. There have been far more good wins than bad losses this year.

We have had numerous Big 12 players of the week.

We have yet to play Texas Tech at home, TCU at home or away, WVU at home or away, Oklahoma at home, KState at home or away, Texas at home, Baylor away, OSU at home or away, KU away.... point being, there is a lot of basketball to play. Despite the 3 game skid and the toughness of the Big 12, I could still see us winning most of those games (at KU and at OSU being the least likely).

A week off is going to give CFH a chance to right the ship, which I fully expect.

We hit a reasonable amount of our threes again. They're going to start falling again.

Ejim had a nice game on the boards. We need him and his leadership.

I realize this probably didn't need another thread, but I thought I'd try a more positive approach.

Easy way to look at this is that ISU only has 3 road games in February, 2 of which are West Virginia and TCU. And we're done with KU before February 1st.

And we're #16 in the country coming off three loses. Tell me that if someone told you that fact before the season, that you'd be even remotely upset right now.

**slaps the Kool-Aid out of hands, as it spills all over the floor. No happy thoughts here at CF.

Agreed. 12-6 in conference is still highly achievable, which would put us 24-6 prior to conference tourney, and probably ranked in top 20. ANYBODY would have taken that pre-season.

Losing at UT was disappointing because I honestly don't think UT is all the good. If we just had 10 turnovers instead of 18, very different game. So it was hard to watch us play so poorly in a winnable game.

We just need to buckle down and finish home slate with no more losses, and pick up some road wins at TCU and couple more, and we will have a top four finish in conference (which we have only achieved once in the last ten years).

A week off could be just what the team needs to get refocused and for Fred to correct the flaws from the losing streak.

Today was my most productive work day since before we sent the Hawks packing (sorry CW). The bye-week is exactly what I needed. I'm also enjoying the upsets we've seen so far today. I'm sure there will be many more before we get a little Hilton healing on Saturday.

I'm very interested in tonight's KSU-Texas game. A chance for either team to prove how legit they are, and to calibrate ourselves before we play the kittens.

Defensively, I agree. I'm still in the mindset that if we execute our offensive gameplan, we can put up enough points on anyone. Obviously shots need to fall first, but if Kane can go back to being a facilitator first, our offense will get back in sync a little better, IMO.

We are at our best when we are zipping passes around on offense and finding the open shooter. Getting the defense to chase us not only gives us better looks, but it also takes defenders out of their lanes and creates more rebounding opportunities for Hogue, Ejim, Niang, etc. After we get that established, then Kane and Man-Man can break down the lane and finish or dish.

During the season, every day without a basketball game sucks. But then, I would be in a state of perpetual stress if they didn't space them out a bit.

If we had a game every day, I'd never get anything done at work. Been pretty productive this week as well.
