Is It Just Me?

Is it just me or does it seem like whenever we play in conference an opponents player goes off for the game of their life? How come none of our players have done this? We only have 3 players who score consistently. Kane, Niang, Ejim. When is someone else going to step up and put in twenty?

Hogue might have a big game or two. Frankly if Morris, Thomas, or Long hit a couple threes there is nobody in our lineup who is incapable of going off. Thing is scoring as a general rule hasn't been a problem and most teams don't have more than a few guys who average double digits anyway.

Currently we have four guys averaging double digits. Kansas and Oklahoma State also have four, Oklahoma has five, Iowa has two, and Larry's Elite Eight team had three.

Kane went for 30 against Baylor which is like twice his average so I'd say that counts.

Matty's getting some swagger. He could hit 8 3's some night and it would not surprise me at all.

You can see that the kid has potential to be a volume scorer when everything clicks. I think we'll see shades of it next year, and then in 2015/16 he'll become a huge threat and average 17+ ppg, with some nights going off for 25+

Going with the "Is it just me?" theme, I swear almost everyone makes their first 3 against ISU and if they don't they will make 2 out of the first 3.

In the games we have lost? Wiggins both times. White boy for Oklahoma. Didn't watch the Texas game. It's a theme from last year as well.
If Kane scoring 30 doesn't count there's no way Wiggins scoring 29 should count either, he's their biggest star and leading scorer. Spangler scoring 16 is the game of his life? His game against KState must have been the game of his next life then.

At that point in time it was. Don't be a *******. Kane has showed that all year. Wiggins coming out party was against us. You're the worst poster on this site because you never contribute.

Looking at Wiggins' season he scored 22 against Duke, 26 against Florida, 22 against KState. He played well against us both times, but game of his life? I'd say hardly. Especially not if you're discounting a 30 point performance from Kane because it has to be someone out of the norm, how is Wiggins out of the norm?

I posted the stats in the Embiud/Wiggins thread, but Kansas has had a career high game from 5 different players over the last 5 games we've played them.
Now Elijah Johnson last season going for 40 or whatever would be a good example. McLemore less so, he scored over 30 at least a couple more times.

This is something I did last year, and may again this year at the end of conference play, but it kind of explains the feeling you're having. As an ISU fan, you aren't entirely incorrect but there is an explanation as to why you're right, but also wrong at the same time. :)

Well, given we always double the post, whoever we double off of is going to have better looks. See Tharpe in Ames.

It seems Fred has always wanted to take away the top scoring options at the expense of giving other guys open looks. Occasionally you're gonna get burned by that.
