Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday
Obviously it's great that we will know in early Feb. instead of late March or April so we can plan accordingly. I don't think there is really much else the Cyclones can do, this season has worked out about as best as possible to land him. I'm not sure if it has been mentioned in any of the previous 9,000+ posts and since most of those posts are opinions, my attempt to grasp at straws would be that Kane's prominence is a huge plus in attempting to land Vaughn. One advantage the blue bloods have is that their players are in the national spotlight. Well Kane has showed that you can be in that discussion while playing at ISU.
I would use both Kane and Diante Garrett as examples if I wanted to show Vaughn how Hoiberg makes players better. In Garrett's senior year with Hoiberg his PPG went up from 9.2 to 17.3, and his rebounds, assists, and steals numbers all went up as well. His free throw numbers also went up from 69.4% to 82.5 %. After 3 years staying close to the same in all statistical categories under another coach that's been in the tourney twice recently, after only one year with Hoiberg his stats spiked up, and now he's playing in the NBA when most thought he had no chance at all. Then we take a look at Kane's stats. In 8 less games then he had at Marshall last season and in 12 less then he did the 2 seasons before, Kane already has a higher shooting percentage, 3 point percentage and FT percentage, more points and rebounds per game, and has less turnovers then ever before in his college career. He makes players better in one season then other coaches can in 2-3. We get exposure, we play stiff competition, we will have an experienced team, you already know who you will be playing here with, we will be in the tourney this season and will probably be in next season as well, and if you come here we will compete for a conference championship as well.
Holy ****, did this just turn into another open letter?
