Why not? He already took an unofficial. And there is no preventing him from taking the official sometime in the future despite cancelling this one.

This is interesting: If Vaughn's announcement is really at 8:30pm Central time Saturday, that would conflict with a UNLV home game which is scheduled to tip at 9:00pm Central that night. (Or, it could make for the perfect pre-game announcement.)
And also, both the Iowa State and UNC games will be done by that time Saturday.

On the one hand, you would think a public forum would indicate UNLV, as that would be an awkward scene if he picked anyone else. On the other hand, perhaps they drummed up all these rumors he is going to UNLV to get a packed house ala Barnes, and he doesn't give a damn what the reaction is.

You mean we have to wait all ******* day? That sucks. Much like I assumed we were going to lose at Kansas, I assume that Vaughn is not going to Iowa State. But I will still hold out hope and will be bitterly disappointed if he doesn't pick us.

Why would his parents give him the okay a week before he was set to visit UNC?
I suspect, like most parents, they'd like to be near their son. Now that Minnesota is out of the picture, Iowa State would be the best option.
RV was just quoted as saying "me and my parents just decided it's time." Why would his parents rush him to an earlier decision than he was originally going to make unless it was to their advantage? (Keep him close to them - Iowa State). If he was leaning in a different direction, I suspect his parents might have encouraged him to "think about it" a little bit longer.
