I suspect, like most parents, they'd like to be near their son. Now that Minnesota is out of the picture, Iowa State would be the best option.

RV was just quoted as saying "me and my parents just decided it's time." Why would his parents rush him to an earlier decision than he was originally going to make unless it was to their advantage? (Keep him close to them - Iowa State). If he was leaning in a different direction, I suspect his parents might have encouraged him to "think about it" a little bit longer.

I'm pretty sure only Kaffey went on the unofficial to UNC last year. I would think that even if the parents were OK with UNC they'd maybe want to go on the official with him.

He's not a local kid like Barnes was...so not really the same nut kick.....and I would read announcing a couple hours after our game as a good thing. Hoiberg will be done with interviews, radio, etc by then....can talk to CFH, etc

makes no sense to schedule it DURING the unlv game.

This. Winning(and not just this year, but the last few), premier conference, national media/exposure, etc.

UNLV has Vegas, last years bust of a #1 pick, other high rated incoming freshmen, and........

They aren't going to be in the middle of a game. The announcement will be right before the game...

Winning, we don't play in the Mountain West conference, style of play, his parents can go to the games. I see way more reasons why he should go to Iowa State.

He's announcing at 6:30 Vegas time? Doesn't the UNLV game start at 7? that's not in the middle of the game. Either way, what's odd is that Coach Rice will be with his team. If RV were committing to UNLV and he's announcing right there in Vegas wouldn't RV want to do it with his new coach right there so they can all hug and stuff? Am I missing something? Only thing I can think of is that he Skype's UNLV fans and coach to their scoreboard before the game live.
