Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

ISU would absolutely be a good fit. No doubt. As I said at the start Hoiberg is a very good coach and Vaughn could definitely learn from him. I also think that Vaughn is a good fit at UNLV and he could have a very good career at UNLV where he learns quite a bit and wins a bunch of games. Stacey Augmon is on staff at UNLV. He played in the NBA for about 15 years and spent 4 years on an NBA staff as a player development coach. I'm not trying to argue, I just am pointing out something that I wouldn't expect someone who isn't a fan of UNLV to know.

I know one of the faults in my scenario is relying upon an 18 year old kid to make a rational and intelligent decision. Not saying Vaughn cant make a rational and intelligent decision, and not trying to take away from your points any.

What I think really comes down to is if Vaughn wants to be the "big man" on a team or be another highly touted recruit of an already stellar recruiting class..

I know that when I was 18 my rational decisions were few and far between. If Vaughn does choose ISU I can't fault him. He has alot of reasons to make that choice. If he picks UNLV I will be happy and will look forward to 2014.

Ya'll are a bunch of chuckin' bipolar Nancy's! RV has made it pretty clear he loves ISU! Continue to make up a crap ton of false scenarios about why Rashad won't come to Ames! You may actually convince him not to be a Cyclone based on the BS you continue to come up with!

I am not going to sit here and say that Vaughn doesn't have a great relationship with Hoiberg or that Hoiberg hasn't been on him the longest, because I think that anyone who knows anything about Vaughn's recruiting can see that this is the case. I will just point out that Vaughn also has a really good relationship with Todd Simon (was the HC at Findlay and is now on staff at UNLV) and he has formed a really good relationship with Dwayne Morgan as they have played against each other on the AUU circuit over the summer.

Makes me cringe the way some of the non-provoking visitors to this site are treated. You guys really going to go after this guy because he is confident where UNLV stands? Really shows how years of getting kicked in the stones from all angles have made some of our members insecure. Pull up your big boy pants gentlemen, that's life. Represent this university with pride, otherwise take a step back from the keyboard.

Re: Vaughn pushes back announcement to Tuesday

I can't wait to sing Sullivan's praises when he brings Vaughn back to Ames with him! He took some heat on this board for not encouraging Harrison to come to ISU, but now most of us recognize what good advice that was. How cool will it be to have Jake Sullivan at his press conference? Although, I suppose that would be a recruiting violation.

Maybe Jake can challenge him to a FT shooting contest during pregame warmups. If Jake wins, Vaughn comes here. Jake should act like an old man who is past his prime, then ring 10 for 10, just like the good old days. Wonder if Vaughn has done his homework on Jake.

I still think it may be more than coincidental that Jake Sullivan will be in Las Vegas to play him at the same times as he announces his decision. There is absolutely no reason now for Jake to do anything other than recruit for us.

From where are we getting this info about Jake's team being in town?

Lol, a UNLV fan comes on being fairly respectful but tells you something you don't want to hear so everyone argues with him.
Who cares what he thinks. It doesn't matter.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

When I first heard that Vaughn was going to announce his decision, I thought for certain he was going to be a Cyclone.

Now that I've had a few days to think about it though, and realize that I'm a Cyclone fan and I should be used to getting kicked right in the nads by now, I'm thinking it's more like a 50-50 chance he comes here and I wouldn't be surprised at all if he goes to UNLV.

In fact, I've already sort of convinced myself to accept the fact he's not coming here, just so it won't be as big of a let down if he does go somewhere else.

But whatever happens, I trust Fred will still put together an amazing team next year either way. I give Vaughn a LOT of credit for at least making his decision now instead of waiting to the last minute and screwing Fred over as far as getting someone else if he doesn't come here.

Looking at this as a rational adult, ha ha I know many on here would question that fact, nonetheless, as a rational adult it's clear that the best decision would be Iowa State. Closer to home, much better head coach, a much better team, much better fans, etc, etc. However, Vaughn is just a young guy, and sometimes they can be wowed with Las Vegas and the bright lights and everything else that goes along with being in that town. Plus he has connections out there and is currently living and playing out there.

So who knows? But I'm ok with whatever he decides and will look forward to seeing what Fred can still put together here if Vaughn goes elsewhere.

My only curiosity in this would be wondering if the people that matter in this (Fred/staff etc) are as in the dark about this as everyone that comments here.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

We have to realize that these recruits are highly experienced adults that never make a mistake..... oh wait.

Whatever Rashad chooses I wish him well. He appears to have been managing this process with class and taken advantage of every opportunity. It is a lot of fun to be in consideration for such highly touted recruits such as Rashad and Lazzard.

....if he does come here though.... GAME ON!!! Hilton will be rocking and he will have a ton of fun!

You know what's great? If he chooses you, our team will still be better. Wanna know why? I'll give you a hint. He's 6 ft 4 inches of man dreamy.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Some of you guys are petulant little *******. It's embarrassing. UNLV has been to the tourney 6 of the last 7 years. They have been 5 and 6 seeds the last two years and whipped us straight up last year. ISU is not a significantly better program. Hopefully it will be in the near future.
