Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Although Rashad is not coming here, we will be good next year, could be great if Freddie brings in the right senior eligible transfer. I would be shocked if Fred doesn't bring in a transfer next year. I was trying to think about our greatest need maybe another slasher/shooter like Nader?

A shooter, most definitely. Next years, and this years team, needs a sniper.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Trying to convince yourself that ISU is a better fit than UNLV, or vice-versa, is a waste of time. Kids choose schools for reasons that are counter-intuitive all of the time.

I also don't care what Vaughn said his criteria is. Kids commit to schools that don't fit their stated criteria all the time.

He will have a story as to why he commits to either school. Trust me, on that. I certainly don't know anything else and won't waste any time trying to figure it out.

As soon as kids stop committing to schools because of the uniforms they wear I may try to read their minds.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

I think RV sent the "Nobody knows anything" tweet because if the cat is out of the bag about his committing to UNLV, that steals his thunder. And this kid is about bringing maximum attention to his announcement.

As to why he moved his decision back to Tuesday, why not. Let the limelight shine on him a little longer.

The RV ship has sailed. Time to move on Cyclone fans. Best of luck to RV, he's an awesome player.

That's what I'm thinking. Why bother refute a non-harming rumor if its incorrect? Would just add more coverage, etc. to a 'surprise' decision. A decision where the outcome is already known isn't very exciting.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

I think Matt Thomas will be that guy.. He's already developing into that this year.

Yep, if RV doesn't commit here Tuesday, Matty Ice will start at the 2. Actually if RV does decide to join the Cyclones Tomas still may find his way into the starting line up. MT is legit, let's not forget he was the highest rated long range shooter (aka sniper) coming out of prep ranks last year.

His comfort level since coming off the bench has been much improved. I agree he will be our sharp shooter but we need at least 2 on the floor at all times. The only guys I am always comfortable seeing shoot is Thomas and Niang. The rest aren't as consistant.

He starts if Vaughn doesn't come. If Caughn comes, no way unless he beats out Vaughn.

SDW has all the tools to become one.

I meant we may go to a 3 guard lineup, move Nadir to the 4... at least until McKay is eligible. I agree if Vaughn Commits he'll start. Either way Matt will get major minutes.

Last year I went to high school showcase in La Crosse and both Vaughn and Thomas were there. I came away way more impressed with Thomas. Really excited about his future.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

uhhh...huh?

Steph curry, Paul george, Damian lillard...I could go on and on......those guys seemed to have no problem....and that's not even considering all foreign players.

If you can play...anywhere in the world.....being on tv 10 more times a year than another player makes no difference.

So, Curry, George, Lillard were brand names and had marketing power when they came into the league? No they didn't. People that watched the NCAA tourney knew of Curry (but thought he'd be a "nice" NBA player that was too small to be a 2 and wasn't a 1) and the others were unknown by a VAST majority of people until they established themselves in the NBA. The point people are trying to make in terms of marketing is that the goal is to establish marketability before you even step foot on the court in the NBA. Not to say that will happen at ISU, but at least you are going to have exposure and a shot at it. That will not happen in the current MWC unless UNLV goes on a NC run.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

What an achievement by the Cyclone Fanatic web development team, this thread is boldly going where no thread has gone before. Conference realignment mega-thread 1.0 is way in the dust now.
