Up to 150 people signed up with 700 or so more invited. Responses have all been amazing since starting it up yesterday. Have contacted a pep band member who is willing to spread the word throughout the pep band, and have talked to a couple of folks with a considerable twitter following who will help spread the word Saturday morning. I plan to reach out to the players for a little help later in the week.

I'm currently typing up the instruction sheet. So far I've listed the action, when to do it, and how we'll start it (signs up front). Here's a VERY rough draft.

Cyclone Alley FLOP
(Please pass this information along to those who didn’t receive one)
Marcus Smart has become well known for his “flopping†abilities. It’s time to make him feel right at home with a MASSIVE student section flop of our own.

THE FLOP: This will essentially be a very dramatic fall back into your seat and neighbors. Be sure to REALLY overdo it. Throw your arms into the air, yell and scream as you fall back, and act as if somebody just knocked you across the face. These are methods we’ve learned from the master himself; Marcus Smart.

WHEN:

INTRODUCTION: When Marcus Smart is announced during Oklahoma State’s starting line-up, FLOP immediately as his name is announced.
FREE THROWS: During select free throw attempts, we’ll be holding up the FLOP signs. Be sure to FLOP AS SOON AS THE REF GIVES HIM THE BALL. Flopping as he shoots will do little to distract him.

HOW IT STARTS:
At the front of each end of the student section, there will be a couple of large signs which read “FLOPâ€. These signs will be held up immediately before the team introductions to remind you to flop when Marcus Smart is announced. The signs will also be held up a couple of times during his free throw attempts, so if Smart gets to the free throw line be on the lookout!

Random Chants: Also be on the lookout for chants such as, but not limited to, “you’re a flopperâ€, “flopperâ€, “Please don’t shove me *clap, clap* *clap, clap, clap*†etc.. You get the idea.
Also a friendly reminder that it is senior night, so please honor the seniors by being loud and proud. Listen up for a "HANG HIS JERSEY" chant for Melvin.

Getting as many people involved in this as we can is key. This thing has the potential to be incredible, and will undoubtedly make its way across the college basketball world and into some major news outlets..if we can pull it off. So please take part, pass the word onto your friends and those sitting around you, and (most importantly) help create the greatest Hilton experience possible for our graduating seniors!

There is obviously a lot to add, and I plan on having "FLOP" in big letters on the back to hold up when he's shooting or after he flops. Notice I don't have "after a Marcus Smart flop" listed under "when". Couple things here. First, I would love to do the mass-flop immediately after he has one of his own, but feel that it will be far too difficult to instigate it quickly enough. Second, how could I instigate it if we do decide to flop after one of his own? Grab the sign quickly, hold it up, and have a count of 3?

Looking for all of your input on things to add, subtract, or change. Far from a final draft, but something to get us started a little under a week away.

Bumping this as it got stuck as the last post of the page. Overkill? Perhaps.

That is all great. To get the crowd to all flop at once, you could maybe have the flop sign held off to the side and then wave it so everybody goes at once, similar to how they do the hand wave thing during free throws.

Good gosh, we've already got people worried about hurting little Marcus's feelings with this.....are you kidding me?

From the Cyclone Alley FB Page:
Deb McGrane Collins "Be careful...this sounds too much like the way WVA targeted DK during our game there, after a student flier told them what to do. Keep it classy, Cyclone Alley."

They're going to co-opt it and make it suck. It's how cyclone alley works.

Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the picture on Facebook. Love the little kid with the glasses taking down Smart. Reminds me of whenever that huge guy flopped and they called the foul on Scotty Thuglyfe, and he was laughing and chatting the ref up about it.

Did CA remove their original post? I can't seem to find it on their page (though I'm very unfamiliar with Facebook's new layout).

I don't see it either. If they did delete it then this is a perfect example of why CAC needs to go away.

Their influence was undeniable last night. In the time following their post roughly 50 people signed up in the next twenty minutes or so. But if they deleted it already then they were obviously told to do so by some kind of administration.. hence the reason a student section shouldn't be affiliated like that.

Anyway, up to 235 right now. Nearly 800 more invited. Word is spreading nicely but we'll need a lot more for it to really work.

I'm confused. Why would it hurt if CA removed something about someone complaining about it?

Also, how is fake flopping not classy? I think most, including Marcus, would laugh about it? It's like saying its not classy if we started a chant saying "Your name's Marcus". The fact that he flops is no less factual than the fact that his name is Marcus.
