So, consensus is this is a stupid idea and I'm an idiot for even bringing it up?

You'd be an idiot for never recognizing that it was a stupid idea. It appears that you may have saved yourself although you never actually admitted it.

WIN THE GAME #1...............let seniors play if the game is won. Too much riding on this one for seeding. If we were 13-15, fine play the bench guys. But this means too much to lose an opportunity for even 1 extra point.

I agree. Too important of a game to screw around with it. I certainly hope we have a 15 point lead and can empty the bench in the last minute, but until then, no.

This. You as a person may not be an idiot, but I think you may not be thinking this idea all the way thru. Maybe thinking this in passing is ok, but you obviously thought enough about it to start a thread about it.

So either you're not bball smart, or you're out to make a point about bubu or ellerman. Either way this never needed to be it's own thread.

If Fred didn't start McGee or Booker last season on Senior Night, why would he start Ellerman and Palo this season? Derp!

Nah, just a sentimental fool. Guys like Ellerman who stick with it and show up every day with no scholarship and no reason to make the sacrifices just to be a part of the team really throw up some dust for me. I'd like to think they'd get their moment on Senior Day but I'm perfectly aware of why it won't and really shouldn't happen.

But I got us talking about Tyler so there's that.

I'm with ya, I've always loved the guys that get beat on in practice, and sacrifice tons of time, knowing they won't see playing time. However, there's just no precedence for something like this to happen, at Iowa St or any major bball programs. I'm sure guys like Ellerman realize it's just part of being a walk on.

Some of my all-time favorites: Ellerman, Varley, Skrokland(sp), and Neal.

With the potential to enter this game on a two game losing streak and OSU playing dang good, I believe starting Bubu and Ellerman would be an awful idea.

I could. It would be nice if ISU had a 15+ point lead in the closing minutes and could afford to take out some senior starters and insert some senior scrubs in their last game.

The chances of Fred putting Ellerman in for more than 30 seconds against Okie Lite, even with a double digit lead is pretty minimal.

We can make this work. We lose the tip, Ellerman immediately breaks Smart's arm and is ejected. Boom. Everyone is happy.

If you are not good enough to start tough. Cheer your teammates on and hope for a blow out.

Your president has most likely proclaimed privately that Bubu is not to be on the floor if the clock is running.

I still think it comes from Fred. [Fred Hoiberg's public support and job security] >>> [Stephen Leath's public support and job security]. Enough so as to buy lots of room for insubordination.

I'm willing to bet that both get PT if the situation presents itself...I think Coach Hoiberg owes Palo some PT, no matter what President Leath has told Coach about the situation.
