As much as I loved Royce, hard to argue it isn't Kane. Won us a Big 12 tournament title in only season in Ames. First Team All Big 12, Third Team Sporting News All American. Special, special player.

those are the espn recruit grades of all the kentucky players who took part in the NCAA game against us. Royce was unreal.

Deandre likes patron and is not very good at taking it. Seeing the bball team at Angels was awesome. Seeing the bball team be normal was sweet.

The game changed when Kane started covering Chery. And I think this was as much Kane's decision as Hoiberg's. When a timeout was called in the middle of the second half, right after Chery made another shot, Kane ran back to the huddle as if he wanted to talk Hoiberg into letting him cover Chery. We came out of the timeout with Kane on Chery. And Kane shut him down for almost all the rest of the game.

Kane most certainly deserved MVP!

Thrilled for Kane the way his one season here turned out. To see a guy come in and embrace the community and culture around the program like he has is awesome. I don't know how the hell you build a program the "right way", but Fred's style works just fine for me.

DH should have been there too. He was a warrior too.

He was in full beast mode all weekend. Yet another guy on the roster who plays bigger as the games get more important and the lights get brighter. So many guys on the team who aren't afraid of the big moments.

If we're celebrating everybody, Naz had some huge "look at the balls on that guy" shots.

Man, if I were a transfer.....would be very hard to not trust Fred if he tried selling you on his plan to make you a super star. Congrats to Deandre. Well deserved...now, we got our "bad" game out of the system, let's dance!!!!

I hope Mason gives us a look, really like what I have read about him so far.

I think its more than just what he's done on the floor, Royce may have been a better player but Kane also came in and was the leader from day one. Pry just more due to the fact that Kane is a 5th yr/4yr year starter, Royce was a kid.

Also....Royce was here for 2 years. Technically he's not in the running.

As a Bulls fan it reminded me of when we were up 1-0 on Miami with homecourt advantage cruising to a big series win...then they switched LeBron onto Rose and absolutely crushed us.

Not saying Chery is Rose or Kane is LeBron. But there had to be a similar 6" and 50 lb + difference, plus Kane was still quick enough to stay with him like LeBron was quick enough to stay with Rose.

Great observation - Kane on Chery changed the game. Kane also did a great defensive job on Seldon (KU) and lit him up offensively- MVP well deserved.

Very disappointed Hogue not on team, but I suppose you can't have everybody. Where would we have in the first two games without him, though.

The media are really high on Ejim now since the MVP. Not that he doesn't deserve it, but the headline of last night's win on Sports Center ticker was "Ejim leads ISU to Big 12 crown".

Worked out perfect that Ejim got Big 12 MVP and Kane got Big 12 tournament MVP. They were both deserving of a big conference award this year.

Now if we could only win another tournament where Niang could be the MVP....

Rothstein had some nice things to say about Dustin

Observations: Alford puts UCLA in solid NCAA tourney position - CBSSports.com

"2. Iowa State doesn't win the Big 12 tourney without Dustin Hogue:
People continue to rave -- and for good reason -- about DeAndre Kane, Georges Niang and Melvin Ejim, but Hogue has been the gas in the Cyclones' engine all season. Versatile and bouncy at 6-foot-6, Hogue is an exceptional passer and always seems to come up with 50-50 balls. Every winning program needs a quality "glue guy," and that's just who Hogue is for the Cyclones. The junior forward averaged 14.3 points and 8.7 rebounds during three games at the Big 12 tournament."

If Hogue can give us 14 and 9 a night for the NCAAs, we're going to go a long ways.
