The committee doesn't care whether your former coach is on the other team that you are playing. They don't have time to go through every game. And when you whine like this, it makes you look like a baby.

If you coach long enough, eventually you are going to face someone you have connections to. Also if there's one team who I think got screwed, it would be Wichita State. They play in pod where they're not even the closet the team, and if they make it to the sweet 16 they play in Indianapolis which is only about 90 minute for Louisville if they make it that far as well.

Pitino said the matchup is tougher than when Louisville got paired against Florida and coach Billy Donovan, who also played and coached for Pitino, in a 2012 regional final.

"We press like him, we trap like him, his offensive sets are just like ours," Pitino said. "That's why I don't like the game. I don't think it's fair. I don't like it. I don't know why they would do it. I just don't like the game at all for either one of us. We won the national championship and obviously we're more heralded, but this is anybody's game. This is not a 1-16."

I think this has more to do with Pitino not wanting to eliminate his disciple (Manhattan) early in the tourney. You hear the same kinds of complaints when two mid majors get paired in the early rounds.

Pitino would be ripping their 4 seed if they were put in the South with Florida. Guaranteed. While I think Wichita State is a good team, the committee did Louisville a huge favor by putting them in the Midwest.

I'm sorry, if the purpose of the tournament is to determine the best team on the court then matching you up against your mirror image is the best possible match up. This game will be like the NASCAR of basketball. May the more athletic and better executing squad win.
