I think there's a difference between "doing something wrong" and being responsible (at least partially) for it happening.
If there's weren't hundreds of onlookers - does anyone really think this escalates like it does? That video of the light pole coming down. 5-10 people are actually "Doing something wrong", but hundreds/thousands are egging the situation on and certainly preventing the police from doing their jobs.
If you're there (and not trying to leave) you are absolutely part of the problem.
Is it human nature to want to see? Be curious? Absolutely. But you still bear the responsibility to not be part of the problem.
Back at ya. Must be nice to not be responsible for yourself. To find every loophole against COMMON SENSE.
That's the part of CF that amazes me. Never taking responsibility for anything. Always someone else's fault and helpless.
Have a nice day - or at least try not to blame anyone else if you don't.
It really is funny how people just assume that it was the greeks based off the stereotypes. do we party? Damn right we do.
But do we also raise millions of dollars for philanthropy? Yes. that goes really un noticed.
How did a dry VEISHEA work? Did they not sell alcohol in Ames and shut down the bars?

A greek house own that, so it would only make things worse, right? What if we fired off that cannon we use on kickoffs? That would scare people away.
Oh well then that means you guys didn't do any damage.

I was never there in the 90's, but the way I understand that, VEISHEA used to like a large beer garden on campus, and there were multiple beer stands set up over campus. VEISHEA itself does not sell alcohol anymore, but obviously the bars/stores/etc still do.
I don't think attempted manslaughter is even a charge is it?
If its attempted manslaughter, then its basically murder.
I think what you're looking for is "involuntary manslaughter".
Increase the penalties for students, tell greeks there will be penalties if an active gets arrested for riot type of activity, patrol/shut down/monitor age of welch ave and campustown... Could these things work?
Run anyone IDed over with the the Tank.
Possibly, hard to quantify and put that into action though.
Looking at the videos and anyone arrested so far isn't doing the damage. At least to my eye
