Re: Cooke update

Speaking from the mind of the recruits (we know its different but they always don't): "Dayton has made more Elite 8's in the past two months than Iowa State has made in the last 13 years."

that being said, I think Cooke gets it.

Outside of all 12 Dayton fans in existence, I doubt anyone really cares too much about how they fluked their way into an Elite 8. I'm sure it's a fairly simple pitch:

Do you want to come play in a major conference in front of 14k people every night with the majority of your games being aired on ESPN or do you want to play conference games against directional state schools that might occasionally make it on to local television channels.

Re: Cooke update

And Thomas just committed to OU 30 minutes after this tweet. Cooke watch is on high alert.

Wow. Thomas going to OU makes them even tougher. What I don't get is why Thomas and House are trying to get a waiver. I thought only incoming freshmen recruits get to re-open their recruitment without sitting out a year when the coach that signs them leaves before their freshmen year. Not the case with House and Thomas. Didn't Colvin sit out a year when he transferred after McDermott left, for example?

Not disagreeing with you at all, in fact I agree. You just gotta think in terms of a recruit.

Re: Cooke update

What would plan B be if Cooke decides on Dayton? Can/will Fred hold the scholly for next year? Of course I think he decides on the Cyclones on Monday. I think Fred sorta let that out of the bag at the 1st Cyclone tailgate tour. I am going to the Cedar Rapids stop tomorrow. I will be excited to see what he says about it.

What did Fred say to let the "cat out of the bag"?

And I think a recruit can think about several things. Iowa State was in the Sweet 16 this year, it's not like Dayton was Elite 8 and Iowa State was the NIT or a play in game. Cooke is probably well aware that Iowa State had a key player injured as well.

Re: Cooke update

The thing that worries me is that Cooke has a close relationship with Dayton's starting point guard Dayshon Smith. My guess it is 50/50 between Iowa State and Dayton. We will learn soon.

Re: Cooke update

The Dayton site discovered us. They think we are pretty ignorant and arrogant here in Manhattan Ks....Those are fighting words! For the record I loved Dayton and playing in their gymnasium last year. The Wright Brothers museum in Dayton was very cool.
