Hopefully CW isn't inside his house. Go somewhere dude and don't come back until it's official.

CW mentioned he has a golf outing this afternoon. That makes Cooke's commitment pretty solid for a mid-afternoon announcement!

Re: Cooke update

FWIW, Cooke's dad recently started following Morris, Niang, Long, and Abdelmassih. From what I can tell, he's not following anyone from either St. Joe's or Dayton. Just one more piece to the puzzle.

Re: Cooke update

I found it odd that he was going back to OSU after Dayton visit. I thought that they would be out by now. However, when I looked up their schedule, they don't have finals until June 9-13. That would suck.

That was Fred's entire recruiting pitch: Come to ISU, our finals are done sooner.

Re: Cooke update

You shouldn't be. We need as many people on our bench as possible this year to compete with Iowa's DEPTH. I also fully expect every single guy on our team to see equal playing time this year regardless of how well they are playing. Fran has ushered in a new era of college basketball and we better adapt or be left behind.

If you read the Hawks, all that matters is if the talent is good. No consideration for how good the coach is, or if the talent pieces actually fit the puzzle. THey do not understand the whole idea of synergy, that by combining all the right pieces together is greater than the sum of the individual pieces. They do not understand that they do not have synergy, all because the coaching piece for them is less than desireable.

OSU is on the quarter system so although their finals are later compared to ISU's spring semester, they have them more often.

Fred's utilizing an NBA-type approach to recruiting, style of play, game management, etc. Fran is utilizing a mid-major approach. The results speak for themselves.

I'm all for Hawk-bashing, but can you explain what makes you think Fran's is a "mid-major approach"?

When I think of historically good mid-major teams (Wichita State, UNI, Butler, etc.) I think more grinding it out, solid with the ball, good defensive teams...which is not what Iowa was at all.

Re: Cooke update

Fran's problem last year is that he beat his team into submission. We'll see if he learned his lesson. It appeared that maybe he realized that he was pushing too hard towards the end of the year. We'll see if he can change his natural communication style though. Not saying it's right or wrong, but that approach doesn't work as well today as it did 20-30 years ago.

I think it's the mindset of, "We can't beat you unless you beat yourself so we arent' even going to try to play basketball".

CW out golfing, recruit's father following other members of the team, and a hint from Hoiberg, himself a few days ago... Hope it adds up!

I'm to blame for this one as I started it with my original comment. I'm all for a few hawk sarcasm comments here and there as I like to throw out a few myself. However, my hope is always that mine and other's comments can just stand alone (maybe with a few likes) and not spiral into a big hawk-bashing fest/debate in a thread topic that has nothing to do with them. Guess I've learned my lesson that they can't, so maybe I'll have to refrain more in the future.

I read this as "Fred's problem last year is that he beat his team into submission". I nearly had a conniption
