Maryland has now lost four starters to transfer since the season ended. They even had a walk on transfer. I don't know if I've ever seen that before. I am surprised how much Mark Turgeon is struggling to keep the ship afloat out there. I thought he'd do better.

Maybe he's not actually that good of a coach? Wasn't A&M already falling off some when he left for the Maryland job?

Depends on what they're transferring for. Pretty sure ISU has had a couple walk ons transfer these past two seasons for scholarships or playing time.

No, he won 24-25 games every year at A&M. Finished 2nd-4th in the Big 12 his last three years there. Won an ncaa tourney game 3 of his 4 years. His offense is ugly to watch but he was an excellent defensive coach. Strange.

Maryland has a heck of a recruiting class coming in. That may be why everyone is transferring because they know they're going to lose playing time.

Also, for those of you that think Alabama will be good, you're high. This team was absolutely loaded with great recruits from the last few years but just flat out stunk up the SEC. Anthony Grant is a horrible coach who had one good year at VCU but can't seem to put Alabama on the map despite being there for enough time to establish a program in an above-average conference. I expect it to be us vs. Maryland in the ship (if we aren't playing Maryland in the first game). If we do play Maryland first game, I expect the ship to be us vs. Arizona State.

Probably the field that was expected but I'm a little disappointed. Hopefully ISU can start getting invites to the more elite tourneys.

I think Maui sets their field 3 or 3 years in advance, but it would be great to see ISU head back to Hawaii.

So ...it's 3 years then? :)

Hope we get AZ State in the first game and then Maryland. None of the teams will do much to help our RPI besides possibly Maryland. As for the future, I'm really hoping we get into the Battle 4 Atlantis next year. That tournament has been loaded every year since it started.

Agreed. Hoping for Old Spice Classic or Battle for Atlantis in 2015-16.

We're getting there. These early-season invitations already have been improved in 2013 & 2014, compared to much of the previous decade-plus.

Sustain the NCAA tournament appearances, upper-division conference finishes and notable wins (both regular season and postseason), Iowa State's early-season tourney possibilities will continue to climb the ladder.

Agreed. And if ISU manages to knock Kansas out of first chair this year we should see ISU getting invites to top notch tournaments in the next round of scheduling.

Last I saw there were still spots open in the field for both tourneys. Battle 4 Atlantis has Syracuse and Gonzaga booked already for '15-'16 while Old Spice Classic has Xavier and Dayton. The venue for the Battle 4 Atlantis stinks big time but they get good teams. http://www.bloggingthebracket.com/2...asketball-early-season-tournaments-events-MTE

Yeah I definitely wouldn't be surprised if we got invited to the B4A in 2015...I was just pointing out that the Old Spice Classic was out of the picture based on what I thought I heard a while back about Iowa being in it.

When was the last time we were in Maui? I remember Iowa being in it a while back, but it's been a long time since either team has made it. I would think both would get invited in the upcoming few years with Iowans who are willing to travel to Hawai'i and the rising profile of both programs.

Won't be 2015 for Maui - K-State is going, so earliest is 2016.

Also, the Old Spice Classic is now the Orlando Classic starting in 2014.
