Not saying they would be higher, but to think the Dodger game and its current limited broadcast situation did not have an impact is just ignorant. The numbers would have been higher.
By the way how is it that a great hockey market like Chicago, and a terrible hockey market like L.A. set the all time viewership record for an NHL game on cable? That means it surpassed the viewer ship of Boston-Chicago game 3 last year in the SCF. Where were the Boston-Chicago fans? Was it a nice day out in both cities so everyone was out and about.
Chicago is a great sports town, Los Angeles is a great sports town, the problem is it is made up of lots of people who cheer for teams that are not based in Los Angeles. L.A. has until recently always been a destination of where people want to move, doesn't mean people just forget their old loyalties to their old teams.
Fortunately for the Kings, players now want to play in L.A. so they can live on the beach, practice near the beach and not have to freeze the butt's off during the winter.
