Just how good is NDSU?

Yep - they're good.

Even the AA teams we play are better than us. I feel better now....

And of course the question is, did NDSU look llike for 40 minutes that they could be ranked because they are that good, or because they were playing us

Instead of jumping on the "Fire everybody" bandwagon, I ask: just how good is NDSU? Could they be an upper division Power 5 team? Would they be ranked? For 40 minutes today, they looked like it.

UNI looked like a national championship team after our game last year too. How did that work out?

I don't know how good they are, and I won't for a few more weeks. I do know, without Farniok, we are awful offensively, and the drop off from Cotton-Moya (still a ******** call) to Syria is a trench. Oh, and there is a certain LB, and I'm not going to name names, who should have never been allowed on this team, much less start (2 years in a row).

Here's my opinion of NDSU:

Offense - Wentz is nothing special. He looked pretty meh to be honest today. While their running looked good, our defense opened up too many holes and let them run it down our throats. Overall, that offense of theirs is nothing to get excited about.

Defense - it's hard to tell since Richardson is our quarterback and doesn't know what he's doing. Does Rohach get some snaps next week? I hope so since SBR I don't think is the better of the two.

overall, I would say they would go 4-8 against our schedule beating us, Toledo, WVU, and Kansas. Sad part is I think we are in for a 2-10 year.

Sam wasn't great but his running was the only consistent bright spot in our offense. Once Farniok went down, we couldn't run the ball, which is inexcusable. One guy going down shouldn't destroy our offensive line, even if it is Farniok.

And, yet, it did. Agree as much as is possible. Once Farniok went down, we looked lost.

I'll be honest - I was extremely impressed with SR in the first quarter. And thorougly unimpressed from there on. Several bad decisions and some poor, poor passes. The Lazard int was totally on Richardson. He basically threw into quadruple coverage on that seam route in the 2nd qtr. Seemed figity, and shaky much of hte game Pretty upsetting given he's a Jr, 3rd year starter. Sure he didn't get much help from the line, but still - his other pic before half was entirely on him as well.

As for Farniok - I do have to say, it's a tough task to go from what is your best lineman to his 3rd string backup. But not like anyone shined in his absence.

I don't think anyone is really going to know for sure for another 2-4 weeks. I would venture to guess that NDSU is moderately better than most of us thought going in; we are a lot worse than we thought.

This week will show a lot. I don't expect to beat KSU per se, but it had better be a respectable performance for all hope to not be lost.

Agree Sam made a couple of mistakes, one mental throwing into heavy coverage and the other physical on the bad throw to Lazard, but that isn't too bad for a whole game. I'm just completely bummed how losing one player, even if it was Farniok, could almost completely shut down out offense. If that was Oklahoma or Texas out there, fine, but even our 3rd teamers should be able to compete with fcs athletes, not get completely dominated by them.

Man, come on. The way we looked after the 1st quarter, we aren't winning a single game this year, and we are going to get blown out in a lot of them. Put it in your signature...I beg you.

UNI looked like a national championship team after our game last year too. How did that work out?

UNI had NDSU beat at Fargo last year but had injuries (David Johnson and Farley) in the second half and ran out of gas late in the game. UNI gave up a 13 point lead in the 4th quarter to lose by 1. NDSU last score was on a 90+ yard run with 3 minutes left in the game after UNI's defensive emotional leader went down with a devastating season ending injury. UNI went down hill fast without 2 of their best players injured and lost their next 3 in a row in OT and a total of 5 in a row before they could right the ship. UNI was not deep enough to sustain injuries to their best players. UNI was closer to NDSU then many would think.

I know, I know .... maybe my timing isn't the best .... having the gall to suggest that we may win 1 or 2 games this season. :jimlad:

This year they are probably equal or a tad worse than UNI and likely give EIU the same scare in IC UNI did.

To compare them directly to a 1A I would say a weaker North Texas (UNT beats them 7 out of 10 times) and probably goes about 2-6 in the sun belt.

They also lost Kohlmorgan for the last 3 or 4 games. They lost a lot of players to injury actually. They creamed a top 10 McNeese St team between the ISU and N Dak St games. UNI was pretty good last year until the injury collapse. 1AA teams aren't blessed with depth. Then again, neither are we.

This is spot on.. His angles on running plays were not very good.

Well big 12 live guys think ndsu is for real. I know I'm over the top but NDSU is a top 50 "program" where on any given Saturday can be #25 or #75.

I really like what I've seen of NDSU. Knew that coming into today. They have a great FCS program that plays fundamentally sound football. I was wondering as I watched them beat us today who else may they have beaten had they played someone else today? Would they have beaten Kansas State again? I wouldn't be surprised to see them hang with or beat at least 5 or 6 Big 12 teams.

I think NDSU loses plenty in FCS play. Their win against us wasn't impressive. We are just that bad. Congrats NDSU, enjoy your win against an 0-12 Iowa State team.
