Realistically a zero win season is highly possible. I don't think that NDSU would beat any other power 5 conference team as easily as they beat us today. Let's hope that it was an off day ... at least last year we gave UNI a game. I think that guys like Lazard have way too much pride to let us slip any further than this. I also think that Richardson might not be our starter in a week or two. We need to do whatever it takes to control the ball... or the Baylor game from last year is going to become a very common feeling.

Thank you. So many people think that this NDSU team would somehow make a bowl game in FBS. I still think this NDSU team wins 8 game in FCS. They will lose a few this year.

The contract is back loaded, increases each year, and CPR is due another $300K next year and in 2018. I'm not sure we can afford to buy him out until after 2017, avoiding the next retention payment, and even then we'd still have four years left on the contract at that point (through 2021). I would get used to him as our coach.

If I was the AD I would really reconsider how I do contract extensions.

Or find some way to get a clause for "holy **** how did we get that bad again" in there

Yup. We could be in serious trouble in a Colorado way. Not enough money to fire a guy.

Here is another problem. With the ticket price increases, and I assume donation level increases on the way, what's to stop me from dropping season tickets after this year and just watching for dirt cheap stubhub tickets? Why not just wait for the 4 tix 4 hotdog for 40 bucks deal that is eventually coming? I've sat in the same seats since 2005 but if I'm pushed out due to donation level increases I'd be really tempted.

First of all, how do you really slip any further than this? That's two years in a row with a loss to an FCS team. Not just a loss, but complete domination at the LOS. That is precisely where the biggest difference between FBS teams and FCS teams should be. It just isn't the case at ISU and it's been going on far too long.

Plus Lazard is a freaking wide receiver. In all seriousness, there's very little his pride is going to do in order to prevent a continual slide. He can't do everything, and he sure as hell can't solve the problems up front. That isn't going to be solved anytime soon. Hate to break it to ya, but it's the truth. If the depth was there then where has it been?

No one can predict the future but there is a reason very few careers have 10 year contracts. Our AD knows this but still wrote up the contract.

Since I know that I don't have the money available to do anything, I probably make some calls or put feelers out to gauge the pulse of bigger donors and see if that money is potentially available.

I also look at my pledge to raise ticket prices for next year and tremble at the drop in ticket sales that is coming without some kind of action on my part.

This. Give CPR the good ol' vote of confidence but very quietly start seeing how a buyout could be achieved and have a short list of candidates ready to go. There's still time for Rhoads to turn things around; if he circles the wagons and pulls off an upset over KSU then all the bluster in the last 18 hours is much ado about nothing. But if what we saw yesterday is what we can expect the rest of the way then the CPR era is all but over.

Call Creighton and see if they are starting a football program. (I have to credit my brother for that idea.)

Not sure many ADs have historically been able to hire 3 football coaches.

I'd hire the entire NDSU staff. Then we could actually be KSU.

They were so much better organized on the drills pre game and halftime. What are we doing on our side? Walking around waiting for the game to start? Beginning to think our team preparation is not that good.

True, but the Hoiberg hire was such a huge home run that it may have bought him enough credibility to get one more shot at hiring the right guy - if it comes to that. Let's see how the rest of the season goes first, or at least see what happens next week.

If the university terminates the contract without just cause, which includes termination based on coaching decisions, the win-loss record or other general displeasure with the football program or “public unhappiness” with the football program, Rhoads will receive an amount equal to $750,000 times the number of years remaining on the contract.

So we need to find $5.25 Million? I really liked Rhoads but that was embarrassing yesterday. It's not like NDSU is a much better place to recruit to....We got worked.

If I'm JP, I hope and pray that Rhoads and Mangino pull something out of their *** because I apparently suck at properly evaluating head coaching candidates and I don't have any money to fire the guy and Creighton won't be coming along this time so we'd all be lame ducks.

When we gave Rhoads the ten year contract, the story was "We can't match the big boys in pay, but we will guarantee you time to run the program the best you can." It sounds great when everything is going well, but when things turn toxic it won't be easy to turn around. I didn't think things were at the point of being toxic until I sat through that game yesterday. We are teetering on the edge of a cliff right now playing with fire.
