Can't say I ever played this one, but that second screenshot is hilarious! A baseball game made by SNK? Is it as outrageous as Baseball Stars?

It's actually pretty dang realistic, really fun to play. It has quite a few U.S. states to pick from and then the international teams too. And yes, you do the "grab the bat" thing to decide who is home and away haha.

Can't believe no one mentioned this one! A game so popular it has been ported to EVERYTHING - phones, keychains, tablets, consoles, etc.

Tetris!

Another great sports title that I haven't seen yet is Dusty Diamond's All-Star Softball. I spent many hours on that one. You got to pick your team from 60 different characters, all with unique strengths and weaknesses. Then you have an option of slow pitch or fast pitch softball. Finally, the game offered up different fields such as a sandlot, a school yard, a cliff, a pro stadium, and a couple more that I can't recall. Each stadium had its own unique ground rules, such as a home run line instead of a wall, so you could run beyond the line to rob home run balls. Breaking a window on the schoolyard was an automatic out.

Going to throw out a couple of my favorites that are not NES but still worthy of discussion. If anyone can call them out I will be amazed.

The Amazon and Star Man were my two favorites in that game. I was never any good at that game (or any wrestling games for that matter), but that is not a big deal if you play against another human opponent. The CPU is hard to beat!

My dude was Star Man! Hit the flying cross chop about 3 times and the opponent was finished!

Anyone ever play Star Tropics, Crystal Mines, Legend of Kage, or Castlequest? A bit more obscure, but do remember playing them:

Star Tropics - oddball RPG, very good.
Crystal Mines - decent puzzler, pretty addictive
Legend of Kage - a cross of Kung Fu and Ninja Gaiden. Decent game.
Castlequest - puzzle platformer game that was hard as nails! Worth checking out though.

How about the original Metal Gear? I don't think I've seen it listed and it was an AMAZING game. Way ahead of its time! LOL at terrorist leader Vermon Ca Taffy!

You've got me stumped! They look like they would be PC games?

King's Quest 2 and The Summoning. King's Quest 2 was the kind of RPG you had to type out commands for. The Summoning is just a good ole fashioned 3rd person dungeon crawler. Both PC.

10 yard fight was indeed one of the earliest NES football games, but that thing is an abomination compared to Tecmo Bowl. Not even in the same league.

10 yard fight is good for what it is, and the early version it was. sadly it's one game i play on the emulator as it's a cheap easy thrill

Nice! I used to love the isometric 3D view dungeon crawlers. Landstalker on the Genesis and Dark Savior on the Saturn come to mind.

You should give The Summoning a go. I am pretty sure it is freeware now (copyright expiration or whatever) and you can find it easily online. I played it not to long ago and it is still a really tough one. Give this one a go too while you are at it:

How about another Konami classic: Rush 'n Attack. I rented this one a couple of times and really liked it. Never got past the 3rd stage, but might give it another shot in the near future.

One I haven't seen so far that I really likes was 3D WorldRunner.

I played that for so many hours:
