I really hope Montgomery can stick it out for another two seasons at Isu. Seems like he's had a tough go already, with starting the season off in the dog house.

Jake Knott was mostly raised in Kansas City.

I love Iowa, but Iowa is no better or worse than any other state and the people are no better or worse.

You mean Luke? Pretty sure the family moved the year or two after Jake graduated high school. Was the family originally from kc?

Well..it is idiotic to suggest backgrounds/experiences don't make a difference in people. You can argue better or worse or whatever, but differences exist and to suggest otherwise is PC gone nuts.

In that case I would think Hawks ensure that Iowans are not among the better people in the country....

Yep, Jake was in KC I think until he went to high school in Iowa. They then moved back.

I think the comparison to Blythe is a good one. True breakaway speed might be the one thing he lacks.

The way he's playing, I'm not sure that's going to be an issue anymore. Transfer years can be very tough for some.

Not sure that Lazard does not have better speed than Blythe did. He has looked pretty good after catching passes.

One thing that he did not do last night not go back and fight for the ball on the bad pass that Sam threw that was intercepted. WRs need to go after every pass as if it is theirs. Still, unbelievable play for a true freshman thrown into the fire.

Lazard has exceeded my expectations of him times 10. Wasn't expecting this at all. It made a difference that Bundrage isn't out there, but he has stepped into that role as a true freshman. Can't wait to watch him grow as a Cyclone.

Times 10? He was the number 1 recruit in the nation at WR. We need to stop buying the "We have a young team" excuse.

Good/great players contribute at a young age.

I said it the first day I saw Lazard on the sideline - the kid is legit. Mangenius and the offense have given me a reason to keep watching.

um, no. Not even number one in the big 12. KD Cannon was higher.

It would have been crazy to expect him to come in and immediately be our go to receiver his true freshman year. Look at where he was on the depth chart in fall camp. Lazard is a special player.

Had you told me QB and West were injured (plus a couple others) and it would not have sounded crazy. I don't think he is at the go-to level yet anyways.

It is incredibly disappointing that we will not get to see what Mangino could have done with a healthy group. Bundrage, West, Harris to go with the big guys of Lazard, Montgomery, Bibbs, plus our receiver like backs. Once we gave up on establishing balance, Sam would set a lot of records.

Because player development isn't a thing? Shonn Greene wasn't a big contributor as a true freshman. Neither was Dallas Clark. Sure glad Iowa was able to quietly push those guys out the door after watching them fail to contribute as upperclassmen.

Lazard will be the greatest receiver in ISU history...that much is pretty clear.
Whoa there. I think Lazard will be the best in ISU history, I just don't think it's obvious right now. I mean, he's been pretty dang good so far, but I don't know if it's clear that he's already destined to be the best WR in school history. He definitely has the potential though, and he's putting up pretty good numbers right now. I just don't think it's cut and dry yet.
