Has a coach ever recovered from 2 seasons of 2-3 wins this late in his time on the job? I can't imagine that the impossible will happen here, so let's move on.

No I would have fired him actually after he said we did good things in the first half to that reporter.

i think expanding the stadium and finally bowling in the endzone after a 5-19 two-year run is the most iowa state thing ever.

Which is odd considering the head FB coach of Iowa State is viewed as such a destination job nationally.
That's fine to have that opinion, but the problem is, in order to do that, you have to have a plan in place. So what would your plan be?
I guess you could name Mangino the interim head coach and then start your search. That actually wouldn't be a bad idea really.
Like someone said, there has to be some young genius coach that would love to make 2-3 million a year, isn't there?
Just fire him and let the fans pick plays from their couches for the rest of the season. Like the pro bowl.
I tend to be a softy when it comes to calling for people to be fired, (or giving out F's, for that matter) but this program seems to have flat-lined at the bottom of the Big 12, struggling with Kansas for 9th versus 10th place. On a good year, maybe we steal a win and finish in 8th.

Continuity is only a positive if things are going well to begin with. Don't get me wrong, the offense has most definitely shown some flashes this year, but the program as a whole has been on a severe decline since the moment Jake Knott finished.
Name an ISU AD that hasn't had a difficult time finding good coaches. It's not an easy place to recruit to, and that goes for coaches as well.
The fans do a one more year thing, at least outwardly. Pollard isn't going to announce that. If it's a situation of "one more year" ala Brady Hoke, recruits know that anyway and if it starts going bad, recruits bail.
I have fallen off the wagon. I could see improvement to the Toledo game in the defense. The offense kind of surprised me against Toledo and UT even though there were flashes. Now the defense has regressed enormously. I didn't watch today, I just listened but it was embarrassing for me to have to sit there and question why you would even bother to pass when you can run it down our throats. I think the game has passed Wally by and at the very least, there needs to be a change there. Right now I don't really care what they do though. You have Mangino here, maybe you fire Rhoads and let Mangino take over.
Clearly you mean football, as McD is the only MBB coach in the past 6 that did not have success.
How many ADs would be looking to hire their 3rd coach? Regardless, I see very little to suggest ISU has a history of great athletic department leadership. Ask yourself which came first.
No. I've said for some time now that he's not good at evaluating coaching talent. He does a fine job with other aspects of the job, and should be recognized for raising money and improving facilities. But Pollard isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so hopefully he'll seek out some good advice and listen to it the next time he hires a coach.
