Singing the national anthem out loud ... does not mean screaming. Why are you here, again?

All it would take is some encouragement from the PA guy.

It's referred to as a Histrionic Personality Disorder

Somewhere on Hwy 30
... Lakeliving is right, drawing additional attention to Hoiberg's entrance would rev up the already revved up crowd right before tip off. ...

Just a guess here ... Hoiberg would not want extra attention to his entrance above the normal applause / cheering that happens now ... in deference to "Here's Johnny."

Someone want to explain to me how singing the National Anthem with vigor is disrespectful to our country? I must have missed that.
For the same reason that standing up in a crowd is annoying to some people. Some people will simply complain about ANYTHING. Plus, it wouldn't take long before a handful of drunken idiots would get carried away. And like I said, I just don't see a loud Anthem as being intimidating. It's just....loud.

The Star Spangled Banner is for paying respect to our country, not to be screamed at the top of the lungs as an intimidation tactic. I would think there are other avenues that could be explored that would be more appropriate. Get a good video put together and use appropriate lights and music and the already hyped up crowd will take care of the rest.

Singing along with the national anthem is not disrespectful. Can't say the same about singing "and the home of the CHIEFS".

Yeah, this and the corresponding ability to turn off the lights would be awesome. Costly, but awesome.

Words can not describe how excited for tonight I am. Not so much because we have an excellent basketball team on the floor but because HILTON is back. This year could be one of the most exciting years from an atmosphere standpoint Hilton has seen. Hype, style of play, players, the Mayor... you can go on and on but I can tell you it will be fun.

It got me thinking, how can we make the Hilton experience even better? One item that I am very passionate about is the Star Spangled Banner. How cool would it be if every game everyone sang it out loud. I have been to a few stadiums / concerns where this was done and it is very powerful and also intimidating at the same time. It sets the tone for what is to come. How can we get this done? All it takes is a large group to start and I feel the rest of the crowd will take over.

Just my thoughts... anyone else have ideas? and please let's not turn this into a Cyclone Alley bash. We all know there has been some issues in the past there. Really don't want to beat a dead horse.

Most of the student section already does this

(Unless you are physically unable to, then just scream as loud as you can)

Also, old pepole should stop reading books/knitting, and other things old people do for fun, during the game.

On this note, maybe cyclone alley should put down their cell phones.

Several National Championship banners in the rafters and trophies in the cases, and Hoiberg's name on the court. All in due time...

these are all good ideas but with the new donation rates taking effect next year the chances for more rowdy and raucous behavior is probably going to go down rather than up. most people who stand the whole time and scream loud the whole time aren't in 5k minimum donation seats.
