Hilton (How can we make it even better?)

I think getting the student section to be a little classier by removing "you suck" after introductions would be a way to make Hilton better.

I was watching an old game from the late 80s on Cyclones.tv this morning and watched the player intros... it certainly wasn't "You suck", but there was definitely a two-syllable phrase that I couldn't quite make out chanted after the five claps when they're introducing the away team. Sounded oddly like "bulls**t", which, I have to say, is probably a lot worse than "you suck"... if that's not what they're saying, then forgive me. Maybe someone who remembers games at Hilton circa 1987-ish can elucidate.

Hey, roll with it. To each their own. It's not exactly a real upbeat, intimidating song so good luck getting the desired effect. And good luck with the crotchety, blue haired veterans who donate big bucks and complain about people standing up. I am sure they'll be fine with it...

Not bluehaired, not crotchety (most of the time), not rich enough to donate big bucks. I am, however, the granddaughter of 2 WWI veterans, the daughter a WWII veteran, the niece of 5 more WWII veterans and one Korean War veteran. I am also the mother of two veterans, one to Baghdad in 2005 and the other twice to Afghanistan in the last 3 years.

I will NEVER complain about someone standing for the Star Spangled Banner. We don't do that here. If you do it there, I'm embarrassed for you.

Singing along with the national anthem is not disrespectful. Can't say the same about singing "and the home of the CHIEFS".
Agree on the last part. For a few games at the beginning of last season, there were some chuckleheads that were adding "the CHIEFS" to the end of the Anthem at AFH and Self put a very quick end to that.

1. End Jock Jams
2. No spirit fingers on end of court that we shoot into
3. There should be no gap in bleachers (behind the basket on one end)... Need full bleachers on both ends

I didn't say "standing for the Anthem". Just standing in general during games. I think it's universally accepted that standing for the Anthem is a requirement. And hats off to you for the service of your family. Like many in the Midwest, I also have along line of veterans that came before me. I am fine with singing the Anthem loud and proud but I would be concerned about people getting carried away and becoming a distraction from the moment and what is intended for. There's always at least a few thousand idiots in a crowd of 15,000 people. That's all. And like I said, I don't think that would be intimidating, just louder than normal. The opposition isn't going to be standing thinking that the people are yelling at them.

Read your own post. What exactly DID you mean?

That gap is the ADA access to the only public elevator that accesses the floor so no, there will always be a gap unless there are some serious modifications to Hilton.

At one time there was a gap at both ends. The bleacher section that fills in the east gap now is actually the bleacher section that belongs on the NW corner where the band riser is for MBB.

By the way - not every sings at Jack Trice OR Hilton (although many of us do). However, hats are off, and people show respect. Are you projecting a foggy problem onto our fans?

I would like to see chants while we are on offense.

For example: Change 'Let's go Duke' with 'I - S - U'

Call me hokey or old-timey, but I think it would be great if Cyclone Alley/Lower level fans actually went along with the cheer squad cheers, even if it was just on offense and back to screaming on D. Nobody actually does cheers anymore, it would make the Hilton experience stand out.

I sometimes am the hat nazi politely reminding everyone within earshot to remove their hats. I'm amazed (in general - not just at ISU events) how many men and boys don't immediately remove their hats and how many more stubbornly leave them on even when reminded.

Sometimes people aren't paying attention, and don't realize until the music starts...every once in while we'll get one around us, but they usually comply when reminded. I'm surprised that you have found it an issue...and sad.
