Just waiting for Pegues and his JUCO buddy to both switch to WVu.

But yeah - our talent level is really getting there!

If I were a recruit, after witnessing the last several weeks, if there were no winds of change and I had better offers I'd be going elsewhere as well.

Most of the commits don't have better offers.

By all indications he used us to get what he really wanted, an offer from UT. He never had any intent or desire to come to ISU except possibly as a fall back option. This wasn't a situation where we lost a recruit, this is a situation where we got used.

I assume this means they don't have any other offers then.

Kind of a bummer, but if any other FBS school was offering me, I'd probably take it over this trainwreck. I love ISU, but if I were making that decision I think a chance at winning would be towards the top of my list.

Actually they have a decent class going, last years was decent as well. I get the frustration, but recruiting has been better lately.

It is unfortunate to lose a recruit, but it isn't like he pick Wyoming so he could be closer to home. TX may not be what they once were on the field, but they are still one of the big dogs when in comes to recruiting. So, what is it going to be? Get on CPR because he recruits guys no one wants or because he recruits guys that everyone wants?

I heard dude was a lifelong wHorns fan, so it worked for him.. Makes we wonder if Coach Strong is stepping on us while we are down. Doesnt seem like he'd do that, but it does seem sort of wHornish.

Some recruits will choose to come here to get the playing time they want. Some look at the new facilities. Some will come because of the "great" fan support. Others love our staff. There are many reasons to come here even when we are struggling. Hell, some guys want to be part of the fix. But yeah, firing CPR is probably the only way we get kids here. :jimlad:

One thing I'd forgotten to look at when news of his commitment came out was our current scholarship chart and commitments. At the time of Nickelson's announcement we didn't appear to actually have a scholarship available for him. Obviously we'll have more people leave the program than just the seniors this off-season and we'll probably have other defections from our current class of commits, but still, that should have been a flag for all of us.

You're all discounting the possibility that negative remarks on this board might have been a factor. In the thread announcing his verbal commitment, the first comment was "Poor guy...". Perhaps the comment was tongue-in-cheek, but seriously doesn't that set a tone for the whole topic? If I was a commit reading that, I'd be turned off immediately...

If a recruit is turned off be negative fans on a message board, I can't imagine how what a turn off the last two ISU seasons must be for him. What a sensitive wuss!

I love how all the negative Nancies down play their black hole of emotional suck that is this web page is lately. Of course the tone of the fans matters. I think it is probably more likely he likes his chances to play on a Texas team that has been his dream for most of his life, BUT this web page might be the worst PR I can imagine for a player on our team. Half the time I'm reading through this site and I'm hoping that there is some unknown force keeping our own players and recruits off of here.
