They would have had a 15 point lead most likely at half if it wasn't for BDJ. I was more disappointed with Hogue last night to be honest. He seemed to complain non stop after every non call/foul call. During the last 2, he just couldn't let anything go and acted in total frustration. I know it sucks when you don't get a call for the same crap you get called for, but you have to shake it off. Basketball is a mind game too, cant let them or the refs take you out of it.

The hands being thrown up happened in the Alabama game and they were up by double-digits at the time. Time will tell but I think the Jury is still out.

I think you could say that about our entire team, except maybe Niang and Morris. Both of whom played worse than BDJ last night, btw.

Can Naz be less streaky than last year?
Is Thomas still a one dimensional player who hits 3's but can't defend?
Is Nader going to continue to look lost out there all season?
Can Morris score the ball if we need him to take a shot in the clutch?
Is McKay even a fraction of the player that we've hyped him to be?
Can Hogue eliminate the games where he goes totally missing like he was last night (and did several times last year)?

There are plenty of unknowns. I think it's totally unfair to question BDJ as if he's the only thing holding us back from greatness.

Bryce had a great game. It was frustrating that they didn't keep getting the ball to him. He was the only one doing work last night (Edozie also).

One sign that Bryce is not fitting in ... he's just not whining to the refs enough when he gets called for a foul. Dustin and Naz need to work with him on the throw-the-hands-in-the-air-and-look-around-wide-eyed-with-astonishment move after getting whistled for one. Maybe watch some Ejim game tape as well.

I don't know why this bothers people so much. I just have to assume you've never played a sport with officials and been good at said sport.

BDJ and Edozie were the only 2 that had a good game.
Morris: Terrible
Hogue: Terrible
Naz: Terrible
Thomas: Terrible
Nader: Terrible
Niang: Below average

Those that hate on our transfers every year are hating on what gives ISU a unique advantage over most other teams in the country, which is landing top quality transfers. If the fans keep bagging on the new guy (especially with zero justification) why would they continue to come here?

He had SEVEN against Georgia State. And don't tell me you wouldn't be frustrated if your team played that badly in a game.

BDJ had 11 assists in his first two games and zero the last two games. He missed a a few opportunities for an easy assist the past two nights. Im not blaming him for anything, because it would be far from fair, but Hoiberg coached teams are rarely selfish, and I hope BDJ understands that.

For some reason he is this year's whipping boy. I have seen a lot of posters blame him for a "me attitude" and "this isn't UNLV" type comments.

Not sure why the hate. If picking up one intentional foul was horrible, then we've rarely had a great player. I'm pretty sure Kane and Ejim picked up a few flagrant/intentional/technicals in their time.

BDJ's stats through 4 games:

14.8 ppg (2nd on the team to Georges)
7.3 rebounds/game (2nd on the team to Georges)
2.8 assists/game (3rd behind Monte and Georges)
1.5 steals/game (Leads the team by a long shot)
1 block/game (Leads the team)

He's also shooting 89% from the FT line.

I just don't get the hate for him.

I may be in the implied "hate" group because of the other thread I started...but let me be clear, I don't "hate" anyone and never have.

On the contrary, I was surprised and disappointed with his flagrant foul because I had not seen some of the "me" and attitude that you have mentioned. I have been, and continue to be, a BDJ fan...and am hoping that last night's action was more of a frustration and "young" guy behavior that Fred will help correct...just like he did with Kane.

Not a guy on the team that could be "hated" at this point because we haven't seen enough of any of the new guys to do so.

That being said, his progress and leadership on the team will become apparent the more we move into the season.

That's because Hogue (along with Edozie) was getting trucked in the post with no calls. Multiple times Hogue ended up on the floor with no whistle.

I mean, that one guy on their team got a foul for basically falling backwards into Edozie. Is that even a real foul?

You should assume that people are going to show amazement with their body language when the are amazed. You should also assume people will have a puzzled look on their face when they are puzzled.
Then I think it's curious that a couple of our guys are amazed virtually every time they are whistled. It's theater and it shows up the refs. If you have a problem, talk to the ref.

Did you see the box score for last night's game??? You are unfairly zeroing in on BDJ, but how about the other players with little or no assists? He made some passes and people just missed their open shots. Any other night, he would have finished with 4-5 assists. Look at these stats:

Hogue - 0 assists
Long - 0 assists
Morris - only 2 assists (he's our PG)
Thomas - 1 assist
Nader - 1 assist

Pretty ****** that you pick on BDJ assist numbers, but say nothing about the other players last night. Why all the BDJ hate from everyone?

He also had no TOs last night so it's not like he was making a bunch of bad decisions. People bagged on Clyburn and Allen and both had stretches where they carried us late in the season. People on this site were even complaining about Kane at times last year. BDJ has a ton of talent and is going to try to do too much from time to time. He wants the ball. He still needs to find his role and figure out how to play with these guys. He will have games where he carries ISU this season. He did much of last night but everyone else was slumping so bad it wasn't enough.

And Fred had such poise and also respect for the refs when he himself played. Don't know why he doesn't demand the same from his players.

He had some nice passes. People just couldn't make a shot. I remember a nice dish to Edozie for a dunk but Edozie got fouled. He was passing and putting forth a lot of effort. The flagrant foul was the only iffy thing I seen from him. He was probably ****** bc he came here to win and near everyone else last night had a bad game.

Like I said, if you've never been in a game where things weren't going your way and you're getting beaten then you don't understand or you weren't a good or competitive player if you have been in this situation.

What BS. Hundreds of thousands "competitive players" have respected referees and not whined and complained to them when things weren't going their way. My coach would have pulled me or any of my teammates if we acted like that. Don't be such a jocksniffer.

Then I wonder why they do the same thing when they're winning and things are going their way. Maybe a good, competitive player can help me understand. Know anyone who fits that description?

Bad calls aren't exclusive to games that we lose. No one seems to have a problem with it or think its a bfd in the games we win; where was this thread when we were beating Alabama on Monday night?

Basically, it doesn't make a difference, it's not why we lost, it doesn't have any affect on if we shoot 16-64 or 35-64.
