Nothing shows that St Nick is winning the War on Christmas more than a free for all in the video game aisle.

It'll be the best Christmas ever!!!

I can't imagine working at Target, Walmart or Best Buy tonight when the floodgates open. Hell on earth

I figured that they get paid 1.5 or 2 times normal wage, but after stopping for a few minutes in a store last night, I don't know if it is worth it.

I'm sure I will someday, but no one should have to work on thanksgiving or christmas eve/ christmas.

You are right. We should shut down everything on those days. Police, power, hospitals should all be shut down so people don't have to work on a holiday.

The retail place I worked didn't, but attendance was mandatory.

UPS did for the drivers. If you volunteered, you got time and a half. If they volunteered you, you got 2.5 times regular pay for that day.

I doubt the gap is that big. Medical field & Police Force.

Data processing never stops. All those credit card transactions have to be processed. Years ago when I was supervisor in a data center I would give people the option that I would work if they wantted to stay home. Hardly ever happened. 2.5 pay goes a long way

When I worked for Hy-Vee in high school, I believe it was time and a half they paid. Always volunteered to work Thanksgiving day. It was always dead (I worked for Drugtown, which is owned by Hy-Vee) and we closed at 3, so I still could hit some Thanksgiving meals. Also paid a Sunday premium of 50 cents more an hour, so you know I was working those 9 hour shifts every Sunday too.

So? Never said there weren't minimum wage job fields that stop. That does bring up a good point though. Most minimum wage people need holiday or overtime pay.
