A lot easier for Jamie to attend all his kids cross country races next fall this way. Just kidding, kind of.

Legitimate question to all of the die hard CPR supporters:

How are you honestly going to feel about your coach if the team loses to UNI at the start of 2015???

Curious to see these replies...

I'll wish him well, because I'll know he won't be "my coach" for much longer, and I'll continue to support my Clones. How are you going to feel?

JP shouldn't hitch his wagon to Rhoads. Unless he enjoys falling down the mountain. But then again... Have we reached the bottom of the mountain?

Hey all you true fans who wont support CPR go join Capt Kirk in Iowa Chity... late....

Who do you think wants to come lose here? We have a loyal gentleman who runs a pretty tight ship. We have lots of $$ (compared to where we were a few years ago) and its gonna take time to build up our roster.

The only way we get rid of CPR is if he cant sign recruits. We need better recruits of course as our team is depleted in many ways. I see no way it can happen in a year or two. JP has done a lot right, he has tried the great coach with no ties to ISU and GC left as fast as he could, had no success here and like every coach as ISU experienced more wins away from Ames. Is history on our side? doubtful

ISU games are fun, well the pre-game is fun, they during the game usually not so sweet but when it is its like the 40 yr old virgin. When hasnt success been fleeting? Study your history.

Short termers, your skiing gifs are funny. Our team is unfortunately more similar to 7 Oaks than Breckenridge...

Now lets sign some JUCO guys, built up our lines and make some progress.

JP's support of CPR hasnt been as public as it was tonight (I didnt hear them on the radio but I'm glad it happened).

Change may have lifted the spirits of many of you (CPR haters) but the problem would not have been solved. This is Stephen Hawking material, its not simple nor probable for a few.

You guys not buying tickets really helps ISU afford a buyout.

Well, thats the ADs problem if it chooses to ignore reality. The reality is a losing program will always eventually trend negatively in money. You can only push the 'donate more so we can do more' so long before results have to happen.

Is this JP hitching his future to Rhoads, or the old 'show of support' before a postseason firing (ala the NFL), or something else?

It looks right now like he's hitched his wagon to Rhoads pretty tightly. That might not go well for JP.

I dont want jamie to go because he's done so much good overall.

But its clear he sticks by his hires a bit too much. He wouldntve canned McD that season if Creighton hadnt taken him, and he's sticking by Rhoads.

Same boat here. JP has been awesome.
This is potentially one of those career moves that really backfire. You've got to be careful who you're that loyal to professionally.

Thanks to fans like you.

If only the I'm withholding my support till you produce trick would work. But it doesn't.

accusing someone of being a "bad fan" for not continuing to blindly throw thousands of dollars at a program that is a dumpster fire is absolutely ridiculous. let me tell you what you are, "good fan". you're that wife who gets her *** beat by her husband constantly but refuses to leave because she loves him. that's a YOU problem. calling out others for not continuing to pay lots of money to see this team play is bull****.

Football, and sports in general, are entertainment. I can't speak for others, but I don't find it all that entertaining when the product on the field is sub par with no sign of anything changing soon. The best part of ISU football at this time is tailgating and all that goes along with that. why should I scratch another large donation check and buy tickets when i can continue to enjoy the game day experience anyway in the lots, and then get free or dirt cheap tickets at game time? it's a simple choice. give me a reason to write that check. give me "hope" again for a better future and I'll be happy to do it. Sorry, but the SEZ isn't enough for me. An upgraded stadium is great, but not if the team playing on its field is garbage.

Rhoads is a lame duck. lame ducks don't sell tickets

The Fake Dan Beebe makes a good point on Twitter. The last program that hired a coach away from ISU got a BCS championship.

PR to NU!!

woah, you sure read a lot into my two brief comments. I didn't call him a bad fan. I just stated the obvious, which was that our not selling out except for the Iowa game would be caused by people not showing up. I've never, ever called out anyone about how much or little they choose to spend on tickets. And honestly, your analogy to spousal abuse is disturbing.

The Iowa and UNI games will sell tickets. That with the SEZ will put tickets equal to this season. The upped donation level at Hilton will also help soften the fall.

The first 3 or 4 games will be close to sell outs. If the team is better than expected people will come back to the program for the last games of the season.

Well, what do you all really expect? Back in 2011, Pollard already made the decision you all think he made today in backing Rhoads. When he signed the contract in 2011 for 10 years, he was saying "we can't give you money, but we can give you stability." That is a risk vs. reward move. You can't just renig on it now since the cards have changed. Don't give me the "we can buy out of it" story. You all know we can't. If we could, there would have been no reason to sign the 10 year contract to begin with. We are on the risk side of things now, but unless someone really steps up to fund a change we are stuck with what we got.

I'm not sure why it's so hard for several of you to figure out. Pollard married himself to Rhoads the day he signed the contract not today. His career outlook was aligned with Rhoads from that day forward with this budget.

Jamie Pollard signed the 10 year contract. Sorry, he can't just decide to not be loyal now unless there is a slush fund we don't know about. The career move that could backfire was made back in 2011 when he signed the contract.

If there is $5 million to pay Rhoads off, then he didn't need to sign the 10 year contract.
