He's honestly good at his craft. Either Dunk the ball, or if you cant dunk, create contact so you can go to the line and shoot 85%. It's not orthodox, or how Fred would teach it, but it works, and he's good at it. Be good at your craft.

Problem is, they have nobody good at the craft of a go to scorer......We have 2. I'd give it to Niang or BDJ, (maybe even Naz) at the last second, before I'd trust any of their guys.

Watching him shoot, he's not uncoordinated. I really think he could have been such a dominant player if he could hit the 3 or even solid mid-range. It's what'll stop him from having a shot at the next level. He's not such an athletic freak that a team would want him on the court when he can't hit a J.

I'll be glad to not play him again, it's annoying playing a guy who can't hit shots but still scores a ton from the line.

If BDJ plays the way he has been, I just don't see how they can stop him without putting a forward on him the entire game and imagine that will really help Niang's game. None of Iowa's guards remotely match up with BDJ.

Earlier I jokingly posted 20-17 as my prediction. My real prediction (which will be spot on, by the way) is 89-81, Clones. 31 for Gorgeous Georges.

Their d has looked good all season minus the second half of the Texas game, but they have Alcorn State fits tonight.

Their D has looked ok all year, but I don't get why you would change your prediction based off of their D against ALCORN ST. News flash, Troy only gave up 51 points to Alcorn St, so basically if you have a pulse, you can play good D against them.

I'm not saying their defense isn't decent, just that you should not change your prediction based off of how they looked against Alcorn is not a state.

Yea Alcorn State is awful, much worse than UMKC. I watched the Iowa game and have a couple others. What worries me is also what doesn't worry me at the same time(lol), and that is they have no guards that have shot the 3 ball well all year, none. However they are capable of it in Jok and oglsby if they get hot as they are extremely streaky shooters. UHL coming off the bench isn't a threat really he's too young and not quite ready for prime time yet. Trey Dickerson you could say is a bust but it's still early although it looks as if his outside shooting is poor but he is lightening quick.

Iowa cherry picks a lot, it's part of their offense so will have to watch for that but that's their game..cherry pick in transition, force TOs with press. It's how they score a lot this year. Idk, just watching Iowa last night and their half court offense just doesn't send fear into me.

one last thing and I know I'm rambling, is that many don't seem to be giving tis ISU team credit on the Defensive end, IMO this ISU team is a much better defensive team overall than in any of CFHs teams.

Iowa doesn't have anyone that can shoot besides Uthoff, why some Hawk fans think this will change blows my mind.

I'm still predicting ISU to win, I just dont think they will score over 75.

If Dickerson was the player they made him out to be...they'd have been very salty. Has to be frustrating for them that their guards don't seem to improve much year to year. The Ulis (sp?) thing has to sting even more.

That was my thought when I read your first line, "if Dickerson were Trey Ulis..."

A lot is working against ISU in this game and if we come out of it with a W honestly I'll be impressed. At Iowa, Fran will work the refs like no other due to what happened last year, Olesani Dads funeral is after the game and he leaves right after the game to fly to Europe so I'm sure he will have an inspired performance and have career game. Half of Iowa roster is from Iowa so it truly is their Super bowl.

Our Defense and Rebounding could be contributing factor if we lose. We need to hit our shots (>40% FG & Trey) and get points in transition Offense.....I miss Ejim (and Doc Sadler for the sake of D)

Dunno why, but this feels like the kind of game that Georges and Naz struggle in, and maybe even Monte. Hoping this is the game we see Matty T light it up.

I hate White's game, but this is an awfully fair assessment. He does know what he can and can't do, and he maximizes what he's got.

Really? I think Georges is chomping at the bit to notch a win at Iowa City. Totally confident #31 will show up and ball.

Have watched Iowa play against Syracuse, NC and last night against Alcorn St. I think we are wrong about their press, it is to slow the offense and delay the offense setting up, not just getting steals. We get a lot of points pushing the ball up court after made baskets and getting the kick out for open threes. We need to get the ball up court before they set up the press.
Lots of comments on here about EIU being bad in the half court but we're better in transition and pushing the ball, too. Need to get out and run as we're the more athletic team.
As for Mr White, get back on D, play off him when he is away from the basket , beat him to the spot and prevent the post up and DO NOT go for his pump fake.
If we get out in transition, get some open shots we'll win. They won't score over 65 with their shooting. Up to us to score some points. Do not want to get bogged down with them pounding it inside and us fouling.

My biggest concern with Iowa is that from watching them the past two years, it always feels like their games are being played in a phone booth. Aesthetically, it's just not enjoyable basketball to watch. That probably is a slight to their offense, but also praise for their defense.

Anyway, Iowa State has always played its best under Fred when it's a free-flowing, wide open game. I look at it this way: stylistically, we're the 2013-14 Spurs and they're the 2013-14 Indiana Pacers.

Granted, I'm a pessimist, but given even odds, I'd pick Iowa to win a relatively close game.

Unfortunately Iowa's length down low will probably give our guys trouble. I think iowa wins.

I get the opposite feeling. This is a statement game on the road in a similar fashion to how Arkansas was a statement game at home. ISU had just played a dud of a game against Maryland and had to face a top 25 Arkansas team that was playing quite well. Questions were floating around of how good this ISU team really was this year... and the team came out motivated and answered those questions by crushing Arkansas. Now questions are floating around about if this team can win on the road, can they handle hostile crowds, can they shoot it as well on the road as they do at home, etc... This is another opportunity for this team to make a statement and they will be motivated to do that.

Niang will have these guys fired up on Friday night.

Just wondering why this game would be considered their super bowl, is it because we can't figure out how to beat them very often?
