So...it appears many of you actually think BDJ wasn't smoking as well.

I don't really care if he was. It's a substance that harms no one but the user. I'm disappointed that he didn't use common sense and cease and desist when he had the opportunity to do so, but as far as the offense, I do not believe that it should be in any way a crime (the pot part of it).

It is just marijuana. Purely a social construct goes along with it. Some old people think what he has done is horrible. The rest of us think what is the big deal.

He wasn't hurting anyone. This arrest is far more tame compared to an OWI. Jok could of hit and killed someone driving while drunk.

Anyway it is just Marijuana. Two states away it is completely legal. Iowa needs to get with the times. We are liberal enough to allow gay marriage., which goes against everything biology and the building blocks of civilizations. Yet a stupid harmless natural plant can destroy peoples lives because of the prison industrial complex.

I don't think it's possible for this to be a teaching moment. Because from the sounds of it this wasn't the first time he had been told to cool it. And there are only three reasons someone keeps thumbing their nose at authority......too drunk, too high or doesn't give a d***! My bet is on doesn't give a d***. Hard to teach someone out of that. He has to do that himself.

Young people always push the limits until there are real consequences. Warnings are not effective, I bet real charges are.

Suspend him for the rest of non-conference play (better to happen now then during heart of the conference schedule), still beat Iowa (lol), and move on.

Ummm... The U of I is a lawyer school. So those DSM lawyers who supported U of I players probably won't give Iowa State players the same treatment. Especially right before the game vs. there beloved Hawks. We might be able to find an engineer to help find a way to escape from jail. But no lawyer with ties to the U of I will want to touch this. At least until after Friday night..

LAWL. I suppose farmers stop providing food for Iowa football players until after the Cy-Hawk game, too.

If the story is true that they didn't even find anything they just smelled it then I say no suspension. Make him run and cut some minutes for being an idiot but if they couldn't even find any pot anywhere then all this is is the cops being stupid.

BDJ had been warned 5 times not to play loud music because it disturbed his neighbors. The police worked with the team and the neighbors so that BDJ could be advised of noise problems and correct them without the police being called but he still continued to play loud music. He was playing loud music and his apartment smelled heavily of burnt marijuana.

Yet you want to come out and call the cops stupid when you have zero knowledge of what they actually observed, heard or smelled that night or previous visits to the location or in previous dealings with the involved individuals?

Need to Can Newton this situation. Indefinitely Suspend him today and then pull the suspension tomorrow at about 6:45 for lack of evidence. Don't think there is an Honor Before Victory plaque outside of Hilton is there?

I was thinking more of the Johnny Manziel punishment. Lack of evidence=sit a half

Sorry if I don't feel having a loud stereo is a big deal. At least I don't prance around on my high horse and act like I am the supreme moral person CF.
Give the "he who without sin" sermon a rest curt. Most here have the sense of a bedpost. Which is about all it would have taken to avoid this.

For me its not the weed that is the issue. Its the fact he had every chance not to get into trouble yet was a dumb *** and got into trouble.

It never is to the person playing the stereo. It's the neighbors that have responsibilities the next day that find it a problem.

Get back to us when iowa athletics institutes a sexual assault policy not centered on coercing the victim into not pursuing charges...

You guys keep mentioning Iowa related incidents when you have no idea how I feel about them... which is I agree. Jok is an idiot. Two OWI's and driving without a license = idiot. BDJ being warned 4 times and still not complying = idiot. Sexual assault incidents at Iowa = disgraceful.

You aren't making any relevant points here. The only thing I'm trying to say is lay off the cops in this instance. Sounds like BDJ got what he deserved.
