Tinsley or Morris

Uhhhh Tinsley.... Come on guys. If Morris eventually becomes a dominant scorer with the same statistics and everything maybe you could tall about it.

If you think it's a conversation right now I think you're caught up in a couple stats that are nice but dear lord.... Tinsley was the man.

Completely agree. There is no debate. I think Morris has potential to be special and maybe have a better overall career, including success in the NBA. But right now comparing Morris to Tinsley is laughable at best. I hope this becomes a valid question in time .

Morris, and believe me Tinsley is my guy. Morris is the best overall player I think we have ever had. Athletic, smart, fast, amazing ball control, great passing, smooth shot. Doesn't get much better than Monte.

He may not be the best, or even top 5, but I thought Jacy was a pretty good point guard when I was in high school.
He could distribute pretty well, and he had a good team around him like Monte has.

Jacy should not be mentioned. He did distribute but barely created and teams sagged off him and he offered little offense. Off top of my head my pg list would look like:

Hate threads like this (no offense OP), why can't we just enjoy what we have now and not compare everything. Morris is great but he has a great cast around him.

Blaylock was a stud and had huge numbers in huge games. One game against Kansas he had 11 assists and 1 turnover.

Holloway controlled the game like none other. Tinsley was flashy as heck.

The A:T rational is extremely impressive, but in terms of this conversation you need more than just carefulness with the ball and I think Hoibergs system helps a lot with his assist numbers.

He doesn't even average 10 ppg guys!

Again, MM is a stud but in the context of all time ISU pgs.... It's not even close.

I agree with your post and the bold part, but you are leaving out the part that makes Monte so special...he averages less than 1 TO per game in Hoiberg's system which would produce higher potential for more TOs considering all the possessions per game. If he plays as the primary ball handler for an entire season (last year Kane and Georges shared a good portion of that role along with Man Man) in an up-tempo style offense and averages less than 1 TO per game, there may never be a better ball handler in school history in terms of taking care of the ball. If he finds a way to continue that trend for his entire career here there may never be better in college basketball, ever.

After Fizer went to the NBA, who thought we would win the league? That's mostly Tinsley. Undefeated at home in his career, never lost in Allen Fieldhouse, All-American, 1st Round Draft Pick......etc.

Let's let Morris finish his career here and see where it goes.

I love Monte. But JT won two conference titles and was an All-American. His ball skills were unmatched by any college basketball player in the last 25 years. When Monte wins a couple of regular season conference titles then we can have a conversation.

I don't think Freds system is a detriment to Monte's turnover ratio.

Monte's ratio is astounding and incredible but it's just two stats. And no stat can describe the dominance a player like Tinsley showed when he played.

Monte can't be ranked that high until he runs a team as the #1 guy or at least one of two go to guys.
