I was thinking about this....if Pollard is doing the South End Zone Project for a coach that has a terrible record and wins about 4 games, or less per year, what is the dept. going to do for a coach that is actually winning and winning big games in the conference and in the post season? Line it with gold? Add a 3rd deck? Knock it down and make it twice the size?

Hilton is in remarkably good shape for being 40 years old. The new scoreboard and the ribbon board really makes it look good.

You don't need to add seats. 14,000 is more than enough. There was talk of removing the inner concourse and adding boxes. I wouldn't like that, but I'm guessing if anything is done that will be first.

The only complaint I have right now is that there are freestanding food stands near the main entrance that really take up a ton of room and cause logjams when trying to leave a game. But that is a minor complaint.

Hilton is pretty perfect.

The simple answer is to expand the South End Zone project to build a dome over Jack Trice Stadium. Once completed you evict the football program (they can go play their games across the street on the practice fields) and you install a new court and play ISU basketball games in front of 50,000+ Cyclone fans.

They don't really need more seats. They need luxury seats. I think it is just a matter of time until they do something with the inner concourse. For instance, I could see them breaking out the inside wall of the concession stands in order to use that space in conjunction with the luxury seats where the inner concourse is now. They might also do something to put some concession stands outside the existing outer concourse. It would take some work to make all this look good, but you have to think it is all on its way because of the need for luxury seating.

I think limiting Johnny's access serves this purpose. If anything they need to expand Johnny's.

I thought I read somewhere that Johnny's is being expanded this year (probably after the season, so next year) and the donation level is going up to get in?

I couldn't find anything online so I could be making it up, or a friend told me.

Perhaps like expanding Johnny's to the inner concourse and attach it to luxury seats and service during the game.

Cosmetic/technological updates are the only things that should be done. As an engineering school with a strong design program, we should be able to have the lights dim/off to start out the games and then come up once introductions are done. Would help make midnight madness more fun too.

Better seats, maybe brighten up the concrete somehow (paint/coatings to freshen the look) and getting some better food options in there are about all I would change.

We don't want to pull an OSU and take a previously amazing environment (Gallagher-IBA) and then add on and have it be a shell of it's former self.

In short, keep the magic contained in the same bottle...just give it a new look.
