One game doesn't define a team. They obviously came in cocky and Illinois came in hungry. Even Kentucky almost went down last night.

I never said Maryland sucks, but this is a bad loss for them and will be worse in March.

Illinois is 11-5 with losses @Miami, Villanova, Oregon, @Michigan (OT), and @OSU with 2 wins over ranked teams. Can you please explain to me why this game should be concerning to us, or better yet Maryland?

Wait? I must have missed where Michigan, Oregon, Miami, or even OSU are good. Illinois will lose plenty this year. It's going to be in the bad loss column for them come March. I never said this is concerning for us.

I was concerned until I looked over at these new ads I'm seeing on Fantatic here and dang if I can't get a date from some Russian girl if I just click on that new ad. So then I forgot all about Maryland for awhile. What were we talking about again?

Well they certainly aren't bad and 3 of those were road games. Any road game against a decent team is really tough. Also do their 2 wins against ranked teams count for nothing? Their current resume would put them somewhere around the bubble. Either way I'm bored discussing the merits of Maryland's season.

You guys can justify all you want, but Illinois is not good. Weren't even good with Rayvonte Rice, and certainly worse without him.

I feel like your Rhoads avatar right now..

It BASKETBALL, Kentucky almost loses at home to a bad Mississippi team.
Teams are going to lose, it doesn't mean that if they lose a few games they suck..

1. Ranked teams lose to unranked conference teams on the road, frequently. It isn't like Maryland lost at home to, say, Northwestern.
2. It helps if our non-conference opponents do as well as possible in many cases, but we can't expect to ride their RPI-coattails all the time.

Besides, a flip-side of (2), just the other day, Arkansas won at Georgia (which is currently RPI 28, SOS 11, as an informal guide; defeated Seton Hall and one loss is to Gonzaga). Arkansas, a team ISU beat.

Illini is tough at home, but very inconsistent. Like their fb team.

They've almost always got good talent, but they've also consistently been among the nation's most dysfunctional teams ever since Self left for KU. That gives them the ability to play up and knock off a top team on any given night (especially at home), but also the ability to lay some pretty spectacular eggs.

Well boys Maryland just lost to Illinois who were previously 0-2 in Big10 play. Thoughts?

In Champaign. Maryland is good, but they're like ISU and a lot of good teams that are going to struggle on the road.

South Carolina loses. Maryland loses. Kansas wins = bad night of College Basketball.

I spent the evening watching an array of basketball from all over the country.

I've just now been able to stop the flow of blood from my eyes.

These coaches aren't working hard enough to get final scores that are in the thirties.

We need a select committee to adjust the rules so this can be accomplished.

Is reading an issue with you? I clearly said this doesn't mean Maryland sucks, just that it's a bad loss. Nice reading comprehension.

Everyone is very appreciative that you were here to correct the record that this was indeed a bad loss for Maryland. Everyone also appreciates how well you make back-handed comments with an aura of superiority to other posters. Great contribution indeed. Simply fantastic.
