Didn't win the lotto the other night? But you bought that extra ticket, right?

This is no slight to the program or staff. Always take the field for top recruits a program has no specific connection to, unless that program is Kentucky.

I sure as **** didn't take a private jet to Arkansas to buy the lotto ticket.

Even making the top 5 for these types of recruits helps our national brand. Granted you want to get some but them saying its dow to Iowa State, kentucky and some other schools help perception and allows kids like Amir think its ok to go to Iowa State.

Illinois has finished in the top 3 four times for 2015 5*'s. I'm sorry but that's not helping their national brand. The only thing that can help your national brand is landing these kids. That being said, Fred is gonna get one and it's gonna be soon.

I'm surprised nobody in this thread yet has tried to talk about how good of a college town Ames can be and that it's the perfect place for him because they think every recruit will like a town like Ames because they did. That's one of my biggest peeves with these recruiting threads is people thinking they know exactly what kind of college town every recruit wants and that Ames is perfect for them.

Done  (side note: I agree with you, there are a lot of people who are self proclaimed experts on the 17-19 year old basketball player crowd)

The odds are close enough to no chance to say there is no chance. We have a lot going for us compared to most other programs, but that does not mean you have a chance.

And it is no slight to the program that this is the case. Unless you are a blueblood in recruiting you have in no chance until proven otherwise.

That is the equivalent of calling Fred a fool. Only a fool would toil with something when they have no chance of success.

Because unless you are Kentucky your chance at any singular top-10 recruit is not good. Without any special circumstance or connection, you pretty much have no chance. What is our "in" with Monk?
What is our "in" with Diallo? The in is the connection. It is their or it isn't. Fred isn't a fool. Are the odds long with all elite recruits? Of course but saying we have no chance is asinine. In fact, we do have a chance with every elite recruit and eventually we will land one. Fred's job is to zero in on the ones he feels our odds are greatest and he picked him. You saying we have no chance is just pessimistic BS. Saying it is a long shot is one thing but saying it is an act of futility is quite another.

Not a smart bet and having no chance are not the same thing. Of course the field is a much much smarter bet. If you said he had no chance to win the lotto you would be equally wrong and obviously our odds are much better than winning the lotto. Just stop, you overstated your position drop it.

If there is a chance, he is worth the effort.

That list is crazy. To be a 5* and have the likes of blue bloods knocking on your door, I couldn't imagine the attention he is getting as a junior.

Wasn't it Travis Hines that said he reached out to us? I know it's been mentioned on here, so if several say it, I think I remember seeing it too.

That 16' class is so loaded; I'd take any one of the Monk, Bridges, Coffey list (obviously lol).

Hines said it on the Miller and Brinson show 4 or 5 months ago.

This is total speculation but I'm totally throwing it out there. After isu kicked arkansas's back end in basketball, my sister from rogers arkansas told me that the word around there was that this could cause monk to go to Iowa state. Her husband works at the Walmart corporate office.

My 6'4 nephew played against him a couple of times. Says he gets insanely high vertically on his jump shot and it's impossible to block. And that's not taking into account his bad *** dunks.

I think they were talking about it in the papers down there too. As in speculating us kicking Arkansas back end would cause him to flip to isu. Sorry, no links. It might have been my nephews high school paper so. . . Didn't really ask for details.
