Huggy is interesting. He seems like a scary dude who I wouldn't want to play for. The mouth breathing at press conferences is crazy.

But his twitter feed is full of pretty nice things.

But everyone likes Fred. (Except for maybe Bill Self.) It's pretty awesome that he is our coach. Never take that for granted.

I think Self likes Fred. I swear there were pictures of them on twitter or something in the offseason.

I can picture Huggins drunk as ****. Probably has drank like 3 bottles of vodka tonight.

Self reminds me of someone who says nice things but doesn't mean them about Iowa State and Hoiberg. He doesn't seem at all sincere about it. He's a smarmy SOB.

I don't mean this as a knock on ISU, but with the comments in this thread, it sure will look like them.

In terms of coaching style, I'd say Huggins is to mens basketball what Fennelly is to girls basketball.

That's not a knock on either. It's their style and they make it work.

Self and Fred seem like buddies. Did anyone else see the two coaching staffs meet during warm ups before the game on Saturday? I bet you can see it on the ESPN3 replay. All the KU assistants came out smiling ear-to-ear to chat up Fred. Then when Self came out he looked like he and Matt A were joking around.

I like Huggy because he has the blue collar type of coaching. He works hard to get what he gets.

Scott Drew still likes us more. The BXII is just a love fest for Fred

I doubt that most conference coaches love Fred. There is a reason that we were picked 5th in the conference. I suspect that some coaches are very jealous of the momentum of young Fred's program and therefore they under-picked us in the preseason out of spite. But someone like Huggins is the rebellious type and I think he would befriend someone that is getting unfairly treated like that.

Or because we lost ejim and Kane and even with our transfers there were a lot of other good teams in that top 5.

It wasn't an intended slight.

Maybe. However, the projections on us otherwise were all better than a 5th place finish (everything I heard out of the media anyway), including several talking about us being a final 4 team. But maybe you are right.

There's a reason that 9 out of 10 Big12 teams have been ranked this season. If we didn't have guys step up big tp replace Kane and Ejim we could easily have dropped a few more games and be a bit farther down the standings.

Not to pile on, but why would coaches intentionally rank a team lower? Wouldn't you expect a D1 athlete to respond in basically only 1 way? Using it as motivation. I don't think the coaches are intentionally motivating their opposition.

Oh the KU fans are going to be mad at those tweets. How dare Hugs not say that about good ole Selfie??:pwink:

Huggins reminds me a lot of Larry, very dry sense of humor, tough coach to play for, but gets results.

How about Kansas losing Embiid and Wiggins and their seniors. I understand they are Kansas, but teams lose key players every year. I think we are finally at the point where there shouldn't be an expected drop off as long as Fred is around. He is the king of putting the puzzle pieces together and creating mismatches.
