I am frustrated with how some of the games have gone, to be honest, but I agree with the OP. It is so much fun to be relevant in basketball.

Also, we have not peaked yet, and typically Fred's teams don't peak until March. The talent is there, the coaching is there, we just need to put it all together at the right time. Hopefully we can do that, make a run at a Big 12 Tourney Title, and win a few games in the NCAAs.

The two people getting better are Hogue and McKay. Edozie is looking better, but Whar Edozie?

You can't buy the exposure we're getting from guys like Jay Williams.

Hopefully Jay can steer this guy our way:

You realize tournament games are a "neutral/road" game for the other team as well, right?

In the past three years we've been knocked out of the tourney by Uconn in NY, Ohio State in Ohio, and Kentucky in Kentucky... calling them neutral games might be a bit of a stretch.

And since when is it bad to win 2 games in the tourney? I know we all want more than that, but if we make it to the Sweet 16 and no further, I'm still going to feel like this was a pretty successful season.

It's bad when you won 2 games the previous year with the thought that that was probably an early exit, with a team this year that has shown they have just as much (if not more) potential.

Probably because even with a good seed, it doesn't look like we'd win any more than 2 games in the tourney based on how these neutral/road games have been going

I remember when being a fan was the anticipation of each game and enjoying/suffering each game. Doing it all over again with each game. The idea of looking out to the NCAA and being soured by the prospect of only winning two games blows me away.

Today fans don't so much love their team as they love being able to brag about their teams. They also don't watch the game as much as they just analyze it so they can rehash it online. I fall into that sometimes and it annoys me about myself. I'm jealous of my wife who just enjoys it for what it is.

The OP was spot on. Just enjoy it.

Haven't read any of the other posts. I'm not worried about this team at all. The Big XII meat grinder is going to make them tougher in March. Einstein will have then peaking at the right time.

I said this in the game thread last night.

This team is like dating the hot chick of your dreams but she's bi-polar.

I disagree. This team beat Iowa and WVU on the road, and very well could have won at Baylor. Those are three NCAA tournament teams who had serious trouble with us in their own house. SC and Tech losses were awful but when you factor in the W's in Iowa City and Morgantown, we're pretty much performing exactly as expected on the road. In fact you could argue we are better than expected on the road because we get up for those big road games. Every NCAA tournament game is big.

I would bet the farm on Iowa State winning it's first game in the NCAA tournament, regardless of seed/location/opponent. Not sure about our second game, but at that point we're likely playing against a top 25 team.

Same **** every year about this time. We are gonna be fine! And if not hoiball will come back better than ever next year. Fear not we have one of the best coaches in the country by almost everyone's account. Enjoy it! Doesn't happen often when you are a Cyclone!

We've been down by 20+ points in 4 games this year.

In comparison, TCU has been down 20+ points 3 games this year.

That tells me right there this team is weak mentally and completely forget the Hoiball mentality whenever they have to go through adversity.

Couple that with the bi-polar fans and whew....almost seems like I had logged into HawkeyeNation by mistake.

Having expectations isn't bad.

Not being able to handle when expectations aren't met is bad.

Yes. We can enjoy the good parts of the season and realize that things could be better.

And the bashing of the coaches and players is just crazy. They are not perfect, but they are pretty good.

This is spot on. I think some of it is based on the heightened expectations this year, which were very real, and in light of those expectations a 3-6 seed can be viewed as somewhat of a disappointment, but a little bit of perspective is obviously needed.

On the other hand, this type of freak-out happened each of the last 4 years, so it's not entirely based on expectations.

As you pointed out, it's the incessant personal attacks (lazy, selfish, weak, not trying, etc) that make this site fairly unreadable after a loss for me. I don't understand how people can treat their favorite team that way.

This is one place where I miss negative rep, because the red bars made it easy to spot that 10% of posters who were huge d-bags in between games .

He's posted on here several times about leaving football games early. Like, before-the-second-quarter type of early.

To be fair, I've felt like leaving some football games that early. Left at halftime once, but that was because my wife was cold, and wasn't wearing the proper shoes.

I'm a glutton for punishment, though. Many years of training.
