I've never had the urge to own a two door. Even when I was a teenager. I guess I'm just practical like that.

CF, or IRL?

both, but on FB this time. I never, ever do politics on FB. And I don't even think this should be political. It was just so wrong and untrue and I saw my brother liking it (mutual friend). I walked away from it after two posts but I got to see my brother liking all of the moronic posts on a topic he too, knows nothing about. Just infuriating how easily some people will just believe what they are told or what their "party" tells them to believe.

Remember when I mentioned I have a LOT of family in Texas? Well, nearly all of them are far right with a couple of blue standouts (my 92-year-old Aunt, her oldest son, my sister and her husband). I do a lot of close the door, back away on posts, but every now and again I just can't help myself and I will link the Snopes or FactCheck info on a topic.

oof. The hard part is when I go home and they're like " so YAY your Governor got re-elected!!!" and I'm like......I did not vote for that POS. Or things like "hope you're not turning into one of the Madison liberals!"
I've kept my views to myself because I would like to not have that impact the relationship with my family but I also don't like just saying nothing when they say completely untrue things. But I've pretty much just stayed quiet on it. My two comments probably just made it less likely that my brother will call to do anything this summer - which is stupidly ridiculous but whatever.

Same here...growing up we always had a 2 door, the first 4 door vehicle my dad bought was a SUV after my brother and I were both out of college. He felt a 4 door was an old man's car. After having my first 4 door car, I decided maybe that's true, but that's because old men don't buy cars with their weeners, they buy them with their brains. Someday I will probably have a fun/sporty car, but it will be when it's an addition to the practical daily transportation, or I will buy fun/sporty daily transportation and have a truck I can use when I need it.

I had a two door all through college and it just sucked. I was the official driver for two other people to an off-campus class and that was so annoying trying to get somebody squeezed into the back seat. Moving back and forth and being short? Sucked. Sure, it was a hatchback so I could technically get to stuff in the 2nd row. If I had DH's arms. So then you're trying to pack and unpack around the front seats. Ugh.

we do keep cars a long time, which is why I was thinking that when we replace my car down the road, it would make sense then to get a mini-van. Life going as planned (ha) the end of the Altima's life likely coincides with about the time we have a third kid. I don't have too much against minivans.....we would do that before we'd get a full-size SUV for sure. I just didn't want to own one before we even have kids, ha.

The other thing is price - I'm seeing quite a few lower mileage Rogues in the $17-22k price range. The Sienna, which would probably be my minivan choice after seeing how great it was for former boss......are in the $26-30k range. So if we're looking at doing this (hopefully, please last til then DH's pos car) next year, that's a decent chunk of change. And like you 00, I would prefer not to finance. I like hiphop's train of thought.

I'm definitely not a hater, just trying to hold off on the money/gas mileage thing and probably a bit of coolness. Though we all know I'm far from cool.

I have an older Rogue and I will say that I have had no trouble with it whatsoever. I have 110,000 on it (mostly interstate miles) and the only real maintenance has been oil changes, spark plugs, and tires. It is also a really good car in the snow.

I have two dislikes:
- It's a bear in the wind. I will slow down 5-10 miles an hour going over a certain bridge during a windy day because you can get shoved around like a rag doll.
- There is a significant blind spot due to the window design in the cargo area. That sloped window may make it look a little more stylish, but it's pretty easy to lose a car if you're not constantly watching.

Otherwise, it fits myself (6'2") and my wife (5'2"....and a quarter) well.

And yeah, those optional third row seats are pretty small and crappy. Unless you're planning on hauling a carload of 4-5 year old girls, you will get limited use out of them.

You might also check out the Murano. I had one before the Rogue and loved it. It was a little bigger and had some excellent pickup for a six cylinder. I haven't priced them for awhile, though.

I have been driving a 1997 2 door civic for six years. Doubt it will last until we are debt free so probably will try to save up as much as possible so the payment is as small as possible.

good info! I didn't like the Impala because of their sloped window design so that may be something I don't like there either. I just picked out the Rogue because I really like my Altima. It's had about eight fenders on it, but *knock on wood* nothing major outside of that. I did some looking at the Murano (mostly because I didn't know what the difference was between that and the Rogue) and for the newer ones at least, the Rogue was being recommended. Still a ways off on buying anything hopefully, but I like getting this kind of info. So between you and 00, if we aren't getting a minivan, don't bother with third row seats.
