Nash was waiting for the spin move and George just powered it by him. Sorry George for doubting you and wanting the ball out of your hands that possession, my bad.

My words last night were "I don't like Georges with the ball right now." Makes basket. "That was a great call to give Georges the ball right there."

I watched only the first half, and Niang was there. Yeah, one glaring missed pass turnover and at least one miss on a three, but he was there.

What game were you watching?

Agree here. Even though he wasn't scoring, he was still rebounding hard and I thought his defense was pretty good.

OSU was really handsy all night and the refs weren't calling much contact down low except when it was really obvious on McKay. I think they were really keying on Georges.

I'm really glad we have people to step up when they do that. McKay has been nails lately. He makes everyone else better on defense and he's been a beast on the boards.

Exactly. He had 9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. People need to stop looking only at a person's scoring in concluding whether the player had a good game.

For example, Matt only had 3 points, but also had 3 rebounds and no turnovers while playing 12 minutes. That's 12 minutes where other players are able to rest. Same thing with people criticizing BDJ's shot selection. People, he's shooting 52% from the field, not exactly an indication of "poor shot selection."

I thought Matt had a great 12 minutes. Very solid, did everything we needed him to do, and hit a huge three.

Way up there

I'm not sure there is any other option in that situation. He could be 0-50 and he still gets the ball in that situation. If he doesn't score, he'll get the ball to the guy who will. I love that he pointed over to Fred before the ball was even across half court, letting him know that he had this.

I'm not sure there is another player in the country, I'd rather have with the ball in his hands in that situation. Any ISU fans with anything but props for Georges, needs a hug or something. We are watching one of the top players to ever put on an ISU uniform. Take time to enjoy it.

I liked how the dumb announcer was suggesting to call a timeout. That's not how Hoiberg rolls. He has faith in his players, especially Niang, to make the right decision and is not going to let the defense get set up. Loved the call and how spaced the floor was when Niang went in for that drive.

Might as well play Enter Sandman during the last media timeout.
I would much rather have this than ******* Flag Guy or some other B.S. Cyclone Alley decides to do during timeouts. This would crank the crowd up to about 11 for the last 4 min where nobody gives a rip about watching some student run around the upper concourse with a flag.

Niang and our offense are at their best when Georges is looking to pass first. Especially on the drive from the wing or top of the key. I love his post game on the blocks, but he's been pushed out to the perimeter more this year. When Georges is throwing accurate passes with his eyes closed, we usually end up with an open shot. With Hogue now able to hit threes at a more than respectable rate, the lane should open up a bit.

Felt sorry for the guy guarding him late in the game when he was standing out there until about 7-8 seconds then George drove it to the lane...you just feel good it's going in..
Unless you are Joel Embiid guarding Niang 1 on 1 is suicide. I am really surprised Ford didn't have help side D in that situation but I guess that why Hoiberg is beloved by his fan base and OSU fans want Ford fired...

Except most people don't like Metallica. I would prefer a big hip hop beat. Kansas, the most traditional basketball school in the league, absolutely blares some questionable rap before tip and everyone loves it. The players prefer it. Students prefer it. The problem is the middle aged person running the music.

Agree, just play something besides Jock Jams.. This screams small time to me. No creativity in song selection just something people will clap in unison to.

Oh yeah, and not to get this thread too far off topic get rid of all the dumb Cyclone Alley "on court" events. Total crowd noise killers. Nobody cares to see students shove a saucy southerner in their mouth or spin around on a bat and try to make a basket. These are just cheap attempts at entertaining the crowd during timeouts.

I actually got a big kick out of that one. I say next time grab 3 of the dance team girls and set the table up at mid-court.

I just re-watched the end of that game, and that last bucket by Georges where he took Nash one-on-one, that was shades of Royce White. Very rare to see a 6'8 guy with those kind of skills
