Sigh....one of the most disappointing losses in quite some time, especially with so much to play for.

I will give Baylor for getting hot at just the right time. They deserve that much, at least. Has there ever been another team, non-conference or Big 12 foe, that has made 5 consecutive 3-pointers before at Hilton?

Baylor just sucker punched us out of that 8 min timeout. We never got back up. We were only down 4 at the under 4 and it felt like we were done. Crowd was completely stunned.

Crazy how fast things changed. We were knocking down shots, throwing it down, and watching Drew burn timeouts. Everything was going just add it should and Baylor turned it around. Props to them.
That timeout came at 7:22 and Medford hit a 3 on the in-bounds when play resumed. Then:

Niang miss
Prince for 3
Hogue for 2
Chery hits a very difficult 3 with Hogue in his face
Nader miss from 3 just 10 seconds into the possession
Prince for 3
ISU timeout at the 5:35 mark
Niang misses again
Prince for 3

Then we actually get a couple stops but can't close the gap. McKay made a pair of FTs, but Niang misses 2 more 3s and Monte gets his shot blocked in the lane, and Niang turns it over.

When you look back at that sequence, I find it hard to hang everything on Fred. They made four 3s on four consecutive possession in less than 2 minutes, one of those 3s was a very difficult shot. If I have to point a finger ... sorry, Georges. 0-5 with 2 turnovers in the last 7 minutes.

Yeah. I'm as disappointed as anyone else on here, but this loss almost feels like a fluke. It's not easy to make 5 three-pointers in a row on the road even when you're not being guarded, and our defense on a couple of those was pretty solid.

Gaaaaahhhh! Such a frustrating loss!

For most of the game Baylor played good D and shot the ball well. On both ends of the floor ISU really did what Baylor wanted them to do.

We got a little sloppy at times but I thought we played our game.

Let's be honest tho, we win that game if Baylor doesn't make 6 straight 3's towards the end. It was a 1 out of 100 game for Baylor and they deserved to win. We'll be fine.

Was hoping for the alliance to stop KU's run. Thought Baylor and K State would be on board to just lay down and let us win. With how much K State hates Kansas, I figured their fans and players would be cheering for us on Saturday. Turns out, I'm an idiot. :jimlad:

In a year or two, people will look back on this team with a lot more respect than they are giving them now (much like last year's team, who were criticized throughout the conference season). Time gives perspective, and some of us seem to remember that better than others.

Yep.

Intramural basketball teams will hit wide open 3s.

There's a reason people get excited about pretty average D1 basketball players in summer leagues: they look really good against bad defense.

Baylor's a nice team, but it's concerning how so many teams are able to score so willingly against ISU.

Hitting 5 threes in a row isn't easy to do--I don't care if half of them are wide open. Don't forget that Georges took four attempts from behind the arc that were basically unguarded down the stretch and didn't hit one of them.

Exactly. We're going to the NCAA tournament for the 4th straight year. That's NEVER happened before at this fine institution.

Sure, missing out on taking control of a conference title sucks, but it could be worse. How easily we forget that it wasn't too long ago that making the NCAA tournament seemed like a pipe dream.

We have a fun team to watch with a good amount of talent. Are we the best team in the nation? No. Are we the worst? No. Are we one of the 20 best teams? Probably. Just enjoy the ride, hope for good matchups in the NCAA tournament and let's get hot at the right time. Who thought UCONN would win it all last year at this time?
