Yes, "The Comeback" was great. But aren't we all missing the BIGGER picture here? Iowa State is struggling right now at the end of the regular season & right before the Big 12 Tournament. This team is worrying me as they don't have that same "moxy" that last year's team had.

Winning and losing are unpredictable. Lets just see how this plays out before we jump off the Sears Tower.

True. But you can't deny the potential is there.

I'm with you, I'd love for them to be at full speed and full potential right now, but it's just not there.
What every team that faces us has to be concerned about is that we haven't yet peaked. That makes us a very dangerous team that I don't think very many would be happy about facing us in the dance.

I totally understand what you're saying but I like to look at it like maybe they found their mojo at the right time. They were finally able to overcome great adversity to win a supposedly non winnable game. Maybe that gives the team the confidence boost they needed. Just my thoughts.

I feel like this team is better on the road than last year's team even with @KSU and @Tech. We have about as many solid road wins as any team. It's a big unknown. They certainly can't play D like they did against Baylor late and expect to win anywhere against a good team.

I'll decide what's going on once the TCU game ends. Teams in the middle of a collapse don't make 21 point comebacks though.

Jeebuz Cripes...

Last year in the last 5 games we went 3-2 with losses to two unranked teams, and needed OT to win against another unranked team at home. This year we are sitting at 2-2 with one left to play, one of those losses was against a similarly ranked team, the other was in a notoriously difficult place to play (KSU also beat KU and Baylor in Manhattan prior to beating us).

People have such a selective memory about last year...

Okay, last year we lost at Baylor on March 4th we lost at KSU by a wider margin on March 1st.

We pulled one out of our butt, on March 6th against OSU at home, and won in overtime. Kind of like last night but with even more drama

Explain to me again how last year is different than this year? And how that team last year had more moxy?

Sure looks to me like the same scenario is setting up, but I could be wrong.

The big picture is the comeback saved the 3/4 seedline.

A loss was putting the group on the way to the middling seeds.

Compare @WVU '14 and @WVU '15 and tell me this team lacks moxie in comparison. WVU wasn't even that good last year.

As others mentioned ...

Last year's team (last three games of regular season):

March 1st @ Kansas State: LOSS 80 - 73
March 4th @ Baylor: LOSS 74 - 61
March 8th Oklahoma State: WIN 85 - 81 (OT)

Finished the regular season 23 - 7 with a conference record of 11 - 7.

This year's team (last four games of regular season):

February 25th Baylor: LOSS 79 - 70
February 28th @ Kansas State: LOSS 70 - 69
March 2 Oklahoma: WIN 77 - 70
March 7 @ TCU: TBD

Current record: 21 - 8 with a conference record of 11 - 6. Could finish 22 - 8 and 12 - 6.

Seems about the same as last year. Unlike last year, this year's team had to contend with the bullseye of a national ranking the entire season (multiple times in top ten) and integrating McKay halfway through. As always, the NCAA tournament is the luck of the draw and we could get bounced in the first round or end up in the Final Four.

I'm going to step off of my UNI Troll soapbox for this one.

Up until last night, I don't think this team understood how to react after getting slapped in the face. Last night showed me this team can fight back and when they do, they can be scary. Hopefully they can bottle up that second half effort a la Michael's Secret Stuff and use it for the rest of the season. Making a statement on the road against TCU could be a huge momentum boost heading into the postseason.

Personally, I think last night was huge in getting their mojo back. As in, I think the way that game went down was exactly what we needed.

I know, I think people are still stung by not winning the Big 12 outright, and assume that everything is going bad.

But take solice in the fact that the team did rebound, (just like against OSU last year) and no matter what happens the rest of the year, a potentially better team awaits in 2015-2016.. How fun is that..

To me that is the bigger picture.

Enjoy what you got, because who knows how long it will last :)

As I've seen others mention, last years team finished 1-2 to end the regular season. The win was the last game of the year at home against Oklahoma State, that required a Naz Long three at the buzzer just to get to OT. So you could make the argument that last years team was struggling as well.

That was just the type of game that can save a season, even better than the player only meetings. Teams collapsing continue to collapse after a first half like that. Teams that have heart make a game out of it last night, what those guys did by winning went beyond wanting to win, went beyond having heart. It was as epic as anything last years team accomplished. Will we win Saturday, will we win the Big 12 tourney, or win games in the NCAA tourney. I have no idea, but right now I feel better about all of that than if we would have lost last night. I am assuming the players do to.
