I hope you have many many good patients/memories as you continue that will out weigh any sad things. Our OB was crushed with us when Doria's heart stopped. He was so encouraging and awesome during the second pregnancy.

I feel odd "liking" this, but I think you know what I mean. I'm agreeing on the first part and glad to hear you had a kind OB for the second part.

He is great, we love him too. I was reading an article in the Mary Greeley magszine they put out about a family where the dad was not able to be there for delivery (military maybe?) The mom was talking about how her OB got them set up for facetime while in the process of delivering the baby. Knew that would be our Dr before they even mentioned his name. :)

When we were having babies, I thought about how awesome it would be to see that moment when so many babies born into this world....then I instantly thought about how not all go like ours went, and not all parents are good parents, and I was all NOPE.gif all over that as it suddenly got very dusty in there.

I drink waay too much pop. So, last night I saw an article about the comeback of the "shrub" or a fruity/sweet/acidic syrup used to make a summery drink (essentially, fruit, sugar, and some sort of vinegar). Macerating cherries, strawberries, and rhubarb now (separately) to use as a mixer for carbonated water, I'll report back if it turns out well.

00, I'm with ya on the pop thing. I thought I had kicked the habit last year when I stopped for 6 months. Then the holidays came around and I completely lost my will power.

I'm back to trying to give it up (credit goes to Rulzzz for giving it up for lent...I followed suit).

I'm a struggling addict as well. I drink way too much. I gave it up for a while and it went really well, but I went back to it.

My big problem is sitting around and work and just feeling like I need a jolt. Sugar, caffeine. I gotta Do the Dew.
They have 75 cent refills at the cafeteria for my 32 ounce cup. It's really hard to stay away.

It throws me off. I identify people by their avatars.

I think someone told me my current avatar is one Clones21 had as his avatar.

My avatar is a photo I took myself at Iowa State media day a couple years ago.

There's at least one more orangutan avatar but certainly not with my fashion sense. It's just a head shopped onto a Hawkeye football uni - yetch!

Where you going to be doctoring at? Any other cool stories? I read ER wacko stories on Reddit sometimes......disgusting. So gross.

I just matched to a residency program in New York City and start there July 1st. Long term, I'd like to return to IA. As for stories, I have a ton but that's probaby a thread unto itself. As for why OB, I grew up on the farm delivering calves so L&D felt like a good fit. Plus I love surgery and patient care so it mixed the two well.

I don't think the question is has, but how many times

Pat least 8 over the last three years. I shower often.

Did the man have to be restrained?

....or did he want it removed?

He's a frequent flyer as we like to say. You'd be surprised at some of the guys who come in w similar problems though.

I hope you have many many good patients/memories as you continue that will out weigh any sad things. Our OB was crushed with us when Doria's heart stopped. He was so encouraging and awesome during the second pregnancy.

So sorry for your loss. Those are the worst days in OB but also are the days where you can be of the most assistance to a family. Death is never easy, especially w a child.

ha, the bolded was my favorite farm part thing too. So do you view women the same way? Wow, that sounds bad, but I guess when I was working on a cow it was never like "tee hee, bodily fluids and awkward body parts" it just felt very "ok, she's having a calf so here's what needs to be done".

You should do a Friday thread. But not tomorrow, because I'm out.

Well I doubt he'll ever use a 3/4" rope and a comealong in the delivery room, if that's what you mean.

well, probably not. Vet had a calf jack we used a few times, but the only time I saw a comealong used was on a cow with a several days dead calf. It came out in pieces.

That was on a ridealong with the vet when I was 14 or so to see if I wanted to be a vet. Oddly, that wasn't what killed my desire.

Is it weird to anyone else when someone changes their longtime avatar? I feel lied to when it happens.

Didn't you used to be avatarless?

I do know what you mean, though. I think an avatar without the red ape dreadlocks for KC would be confusing. And CG has to remain cows and fire. I've changed mine some recently but try to stay Snoopy.

A calf jack? That's for them fancy, city-fied farmers...the ones of the type that'd go on the bachelor, if you will.

I was! And it still throws me because CG and mine have similar color schemes, so if I'm scrolling fast, it messes me up.
