We have had a severe lacking of rum Brooky lately.

funny you should say that.

I'm looking at pics of fancy houses while being sad about our lack of doors. This one house has the most boring looking spare bedroom but then they have a freaking island in their master closet. Like, omg, getting dressed is soooooooooo much work, I need to take a break and rest on my closet island. Or maybe I'll cut up peppers in here for a change of pace.

We did our electrical walkthrough today. So many light switches and decisions. Do we want to shut off the dining room lights from the kitchen wall? What is necessary, what is useful? It feels like a combo of first world problems and life or death decisions, if that makes any sense. On one hand, I'm like who worries about only having one spot to turn off their dining room light from, but on the other, I'm like if it's going to be annoying to have to go back across the room to shut off the light every time, let's put a darn light on the other wall.

Hey! You are a new dad. I am trying to convince DH that a dimmer in our bedroom and the designated nursery bedroom would be super duper useful. He's like whatevs. He ignores that I have gotten partially dressed in the dark for the five years he has lived here and slept 25 minutes later than me. And omg, we are going to have light in our bathroom. Like, no more "cowgirl, you need to rub in the streaks on your face" light.

Dimmers aren't that hard to install, just change out the switch....and why are you getting only partially dressed? Put some clothes, on woman?

that's what the electrical guy said. I'm like, really afraid of electricity. Probably cause hugging an electrical fence is one of my earliest memories. Dude is like, if you buy it, label it, and have it there, we'll install it for you but it's easy to do on your own. I'm like, we are clueless. DH reminds that he took electrical engineering classes as well and can probably handle it. So maybe just the master then, and wait on the baby room.

Sounds like Brooklyn may be making an appearance tonight.

The ceiling fan in our bedroom has a dimmer on it--and a remote. So we can put the remote by the bed and not have to get out of bed to turn the light off. We use the ceiling fan all the time in the summer. Except something is wrong with it and we currently have no light in the bedroom. That is super.

you have had babies as well. Would you have found a dimmer useful in the nursery room? And the dude already decided what side of the bed I get. I get a switch to shut off the room light on my side of the bed and I'm like but we don't know who is sleeping where. He goes "this side is closer to the bathroom, this is where you will sleep".

Didn't have an argument for that.

We just use lamps and a night light. In the two little girls' rooms I turn on their lamps to read books before bed and then just turn off the lamp. Same when I would go into their rooms in the middle of the night. If we had a dimmer switch I would've forgotten to dim the light and turned it on full brightness at 3am. And once those babies become toddlers, just one more button for them to mess with. The 2yr old is obsessed with light switches right now (we have the flat type). Found out that all our switches are at different heights. She can reach the switches inour bathrom without help. In their bathroom, she needs a stool. Bedroom switches are still too high.

ha, that's funny that they are different heights. Now I have to think about this. We don't have dimmers in our apt. Well, we have a dimmer for the "eating" area which makes total and complete sense.

Now I realize they didn't ask us about toggle or paddle. I was leaning toward whichever of those is the flat one. Think they look nice.

While we are discussing dimmers. We had a guy go through my grandpa's old house today to do a energy audit. He said the lights we have in a dimmer thing are a fire hazard because they are not designed to be dimmers. Has anyone ever heard of this before?
