Minute Splits

This is how our minutes splits should end up:

Niang 31
Hogue 28
McKay 28 (Posts I want to keep fresh for Final 4 so don't give too much over 30 min)
Long 31
Morris 33
Jones 31 (how does anybody expect him to get in any rhythm with these sporadic minutes)
Nader 18 (Still want to give him minutes as has shown he can be a sneaky scorer)
Jackson/Edozie come in for foul trouble depending on the position.

This smells like a recipe for success! Thoughts?

Did Thomas get injured or transfer? Not a chance Jackson plays over him.

A 3 point specialist who misses that many times is either injured or bad. I don't want to risk a big run giving minutes to the wrong guys.

So you think Jackson is better than Thomas?

I'd prefer Edozie to get these minutes, but if you're asking between Thomas and Jackson, I'd prefer the guy who is not going to miss most of his shots. I don't think Jackson would take as many as Thomas.

My thought: You're clearly not paying attention to Thomas's last few games, and your concept of saving players for the Final Four is ridiculous.

You have to win the game you're playing that day. You don't pace yourself now.

Basically, I agree that those players are all on the team. After that, it's a dumb idea.

I like your approach with not pacing yourself, but with the turnovers Niang and Hogue have committed in recent weeks leaves me a little concerned with their fatigue. This will noot a big problem though.

OP,

You are an idiot.......Thomas has been one of our best shooters the last 5 games.

Let's just say I'm not going to be a happy camper the day he goes 1/6 and we lose close. If we are serious about a Final Four run, Jones needs those minutes.

Then maybe playing Niang 31 minutes doesn't fit your form of logic.

Hogue pressed for a couple of games leading into Senior Day. That stuff happens, but it's not an all-year trend
Niang has stretches where stuff doesn't go well. That's basketball.

What if BDJ goes 1/6 and we lose close? Niang? Monte? NAZ? Naz has done that more than Thomas

Ok coach Bode, you don't like Thomas's 35% three point percentage in conference play and likely over 40% in the last few weeks. My thoughts; you need to stick to whatever it is you do because even if you aren't very good at it, its better than your coaching ability. Thomas will stay at his around 16 minutes a game. We need to rest Monte as much as possible.

edit: 50% in the last 5 games, yeah sit his ***!

My only point was don't outplay them like push them 35 minutes plus. Around 30 for Niang seems fine with me.

Naz has been valuable for many big games, especially in clutch moments. IMO you have to take what you get with him even if he's done it more often in 2013 and 2014 than 2015.
