I gotta go with Grayer. They guy could defend, rebound, drive, and score on anyone anytime he felt like. I don't think people know or remember just how explosive he was. He was like a Fizer but with better all around skills.

Second pick would be Thigpen and his ability to penetrate and score or dish. Would be a great fit on this team.

I would like Jake for his 3's and free throws.

Royce. No contest.

My post was truly in jest, my real vote would be Royce. No contest. This is how he do in the tourney:

He would also have been one of about 3 other players in CBB that could legitimately claim to have the talent to play on UK's team.

If you add Royce to a starting lineup of Monte, Naz, Niang, and McKay. Pretty much having three people that can bring the ball up... How would you defend that lineup?

For those picking Fred...who's gonna coach?

This team doesn't need more offense.

Gotta be Cato for interior defense and rebounding.

Honorable mention to Babb

Although not a position of need, probably White due to sheer talent. He gives the team another ball-handler/creator, and adds 6'8" 260 athlete on the post. His defense and rebounding was very good in the tournament. We wouldn't have to double big posts.

Based on need it is a toss up between Kane, Willoughby pre-knee injury, and Cato. I suppose Willoughby due to defense.

A week or two ago on the anniversary of Larry Bird scoring 60 against the Hawks I watch the highlights of the game. Maybe it's just me, but doesn't anyone feel like the competition level, even at the professional level, was nowhere near what it is now? It just seems like the great players in the past would only be good players if they played against competition today.

Well, since we always have to come back from double digits in the second half, I wouldn't mind a bit more to prevent that from happening..... :swoon:

Cato. Nobody would ever score on us again if we had a Cato/McKay frontcourt.

Willoughby or Babb, defense and 3's, take your pick. With Monte, you just take their backcourt out of the scoring equation. McKay is doing fine in the post.

If we are talking the last 5 years, I would consider Babb to give us a shooter and lock-down defender

Tyrus McGee - imagine this team with a solid, 45%, knock-down Trey sniper.

These would be my choices...only because I've seen them play more recently. :)

Chris Babb. The defense has been our biggest issue all year. And although they have gotten better, having Babb on our team at this time of year would be amazing

The correct answer is Jeff Hornacek. He could run the offense and be an outside threat. Also a sneaky good defender.

Kantrail Horton!!! Another ball handler, good defensively, and very good 3-point shot

Michael Nurse also logged a lot of minutes, and could shoot a bit.

Andrew Skogland or Aaron Agnew :jimlad:

I'm torn on this one, Royce was a beast but we spread the floor well enough do we really need a guy that does a lot of the same things that Niang does. I'm thinking sharpshooter, Fred definitely would be a pretty versatile player that fits that category. I'm probably going to go with Dedric Willoughby. He had the most 3's in a season by any ISU player with 102 with a 3pt% of .451. Put him in a lineup with Monte, Hogue, Niang, and McKay and you'd really stretch defenses knowing you can't collapse on anyone in the lane with a deadeye shooter like Dedric just waiting for the kick out for a 3
