Darian Williams is going to kill it

Williams is a shooting guard/wing. His main game is out at the three and driving. Just because he is 6"8 does not make him a post.

Matt A. said their aren't a lot of comparable but the closest would be a taller Clyburn or Prince at Baylor.

I'm drinking the koolaid. I love the fact Hoiberg has gave us a reason to koolaid. I know today might of not been ideal but the players that will be back will remember this feeling. Excited to have Williams, Cooke, Burton, and Diallo (hopefully) join the team!

Again, this is about a single player and not the team. It is unrealistic to think that Darian is going kill it in the Big 12 next year. I hope he does, but the "insiders" on this board told us Nader was the best player on the team last year. Hype went through the roof on Nader. Do you remember the hype on Matt Thomas before he played a game? Four year starter they said....without playing a single minute for ISU.

Oh my bad I agree about that. But I never bought into the Nader hype. I saw potentiAl for him as fred said when he is on he is the beat player on the team. We saw that at times this year. He became a solid role player with the potential to light it up when he is in a groove. I really like Burton however. I watched a lot of Marquette ball last year as my brother is a fan and love his game. He is exactly what this team missed. The guy who can steal a bucket from the wing by sheer force and barrel in on a drive like Kane did. Williams from what scouts have said has tremendous upside and a dynamic scorer and was projected my many to be the top JUCO prospect in the country this year had he played. That is good, better than the coach hype we got about Nader. I watched Nader tape at northern Illinois and didn't see the steady that some hoped for. WithCooke I see a reliable sharp let shooter to compliment Naz and Thomas so Fred had 3 options to always have a hot hand to play. All that we are missing is another big to Rotate with McKay and Niang to keep us running all the time. Diallo. Again I see a ton of promise. But agree no need to over hype anyone.

Darien was set to be THE top Juco before the injury. Kid is a flat out stud.

This...McKay was #3 coming out of jc. By the time a player has developed to the juco level the guessing game on a players ability isn't that tough to access. I fully expect Williams to contribute the way McKay did. Jameel was pretty much what I expected. Hear Williams is just as athletic with an outside shot. Would love to see some zone next season with the length we'll have.

I'd like to say that is a you problem, but it is clear there are far to many dumb ***** in Cyclonenation that take praise out of context and then take it out on the team when they don't live up to their fantasy. We can't handle coaches speak.

I thought the expectations for Nader on CF were insane, but I did think he would be more productive. He has the physical ability (KU game). I fear he is naturally too inefficient of a player to get 20+ minutes a night on a top team...which makes his efficiency even worse. He needs to be a high volume guy, and I just don't see how that goes well with Georges on a nightly basis. Having followed him since high school, I wonder if he would do better starting and discretely getting pulled if he "doesn't have it". On that note, I think our season was capped as soon as BDJ was benched.

It's definitely not a me problem. I don't usually have too many expectations for new guys, especially those that haven't played D1 ball. I'm just trying to temper expectations so when Darian is averaging 5 ppg people aren't jumping off bridges. Everyone is so angry when our guys don't live up to unreachable expectations.

Jumping off bridges? I think mercilessly throwing the team under the bus is a better metaphor.

I've never been able to find a good highlight video on Darien. Anyone have a link?
