What's your confidence level of beating UNI in the first game?

Hey awd4cy- I played here years ago so I know a little bit more about the program than your 23 year year old dumb a## self. I did more than go and buy a lap top and type/talk trash. You are what makes this site bad. Support your program and quit being a punk hiding behind a computer keyboard!

I think the Cyclones will win this one. David Johnson was an enormous part of their offense. Losing him alone hurts them quite a bit, but he isn't the only player they lost. I think they might have enough to make it a good game, but if I were gonna bet on it this year I'd take ISU for sure. The Cyclones should have a major advantage in size and skill at WR. They shouldn't need a running game in this one. Richardson will have to have enough time to get the ball to his receivers. If he has that I'm pretty confident your boys will start out 1-0.

ISU will definitely win the first 2 games for sure. Iowa really sucks. Absolutely no reason for optimism with that team.

The bigger question is: will the Hawkeyes bring another ****** bag fan to steal from their own locker room, and then try to blame it on us?

First off, there's a big difference between the "chances" of winning versus how "confident" you are of winning.

I would give ISU a 55% chance of winning the game, mostly because UNI loses their best player and the game is in Ames and we'll be opening the new and improved Jack Trice Stadium.

But my "confidence" in ISU winning the game isn't very high. In other words, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if UNI won.

IMO... ISU has the better players overall. Sure, UNI might have an individual player here or there that's better than their ISU counterpart, but overall, I'd say ISU's talent level as a team is quite a bit higher. It has gotten to be less so over the years though, as UNI is now getting a LOT of 4* kids that don't work out at their P5 school, so they transfer to UNI to play right away.

With that being said, then why would I not be very confident on an ISU win, right? The only word I can come up with is..... "coaching". Our guys will not be ready once again for this game IMO. I watch ISU play football, and it just boggles one's mind. We look like a complete mess out there.

Nobody seems to know where to line up, nobody seems to know the basic fundamentals of blocking, tackling, running routes, taking correct angles, playing the ball and making a play on the ball. And I'm being dead serious. It is abysmal. And no, I didn't notice any improvement in these areas last year on the offensive side with Mangino at the helm. I wish I would have, but I didn't.

This team is generally so unprepared it makes one wonder if they practice at all, or if they do, what they are working on? Numerous games last year, we just had guys running around on defense doing nothing. The OU game was a complete and utter embarrassment defensively for ISU. They could have put 100 pts on us that day if they had wished..... and over 1,000 yds of offense. That is how bad it was folks.

And that is why... if we lose to UNI, Rhoads and this entire staff wouldn't deserve to coach another day here IMO. Having a poor record is one thing, but when the team looks like a complete mess and has no idea what they are doing, that's an entirely different matter. I know Rhoads won't get fired midseason this year, but that doesn't mean it shouldn't happen. If we lose to UNI again, it will be a long, dark year of ISU football.

Quarterback will either be JUCO Dalton Demos or Illinois Transfer Aaron Bailey (4 Star out of HS, got caught in coaching change) Both are dual-threat guys as UNI is moving to a no-huddle Tempo based offense.

Running back will be by committee. Kansas Transfer Darrian Miller, who was the primary backup last year. Barkley Hill and Rutgers Transfer Savon Huggins who was the NJ HS player of the year his senior year.

Receiver is a total mystery as there are only 6 listed on the current roster. The offensive line was a mess last year so hopefully that improves, brought in two or three JUCOs.

Defensive line is a really deep group so I don't have many concerns there. Jared Farley will step into Jake Farley's role at LB and that group shouldn't miss a beat.

The secondary is special. Two returing AA corners and an all-league safety. Four or five really highly regarded athletes competing for the other safety spot.

1st team All-American kicker and 3rd year punter coming back.

The talent is fine, its just a matter of how quickly the offense goes in...

UNI lost 3 starters on a decent Oline, jucos coming in this fall? Not sure I would count on them being ready right away. Lbs won't skip a beat? Umm ok, you lost your top 2 Lbs and one who was a 3 year starter and stud in Jake. I'm sure the younger brother will be fine but just sayin it will take some time. Kollmorgen not starting? Are you high? Did UNI bring in Brett Favre? Not that he's Favre but he was good last year and u think any of those transfers knock him out? No way.

Good let UNI come in thinking they will beat ISU again...cause I can assure you that every single player on ISU team has a big time chip on its shoulder after losing to UNI two years ago and ndsu last year.

interetint that a UNI poster says UNI changing its offense although not really as UNI lost an NFL RB and basically all of there top WRs, so I can see them changing something cause they lost a ton of really good talent.

NDSU say's hello.

you are talking about a fcs team that has lost one game in 3 years, one. And a ndsu team that would probably have beaten 70% of FBS teams that day, not to mention Kstate, they aren't too shabby of a fball program. Let me know how many FBS teams have had game day come to their campus, twice.

IDK guys. NDSU probably wouldn't beat anyone other than us and Kansas in the Big 12 on any given day. We were just awful last year. Really hoping for some incredible improvement on the defensive side of the ball. O-line needs to grow a pair and we will be fine.

It will be a come from behind victory a la Steele Jantz in 2011, we're gonna be all confident, get to 5-0 because we are so back loaded this year and **** it all away in spectacular fashion and end up 5-7. Rhoads keeps his job.
